The restoration and mounting of Chinese calligraphy and painting is a traditional technique with a long history and distinctive national characteristics. It restores the broken and damaged ancient calligraphy and calligraphy to its original appearance, once again showing the artistic brilliance of the work. This lecture reveals the historical origins of the restoration of ancient paintings and calligraphy, various disease conditions, and the five major processes of "washing, exposing, repairing, supporting, and complete" to reveal the secrets of traditional painting and calligraphy restoration techniques.
About the speaker:
Shen Hua is calligraphy and calligraphy restoration engineer and associate research librarian at the Shanghai Museum Cultural Relics Science and Technology Center; representative inheritor of Shanghai intangible cultural heritage ancient calligraphy and painting restoration techniques. In 2015, he was invited to the British Museum to restore the Ming Dynasty silk paintings; in 2016, he was invited to the Hermitage Museum in Russia to restore the Ming Dynasty silk paintings and teach painting and calligraphy restoration techniques.
