Nanjing Normal University derived from the Sanjiang Normal School founded in 1902. It is one of the birthplaces of China's senior normal education; it is also one of the first group of schools included in China's “211 Project” and the key construction university in Jiangsu Province.

Our School of Business can be traced back to the Finance Department of Sanjiang Normal School established in 1902 and it is one of China's earliest established higher education institutions. After 1927, the School of Business evolved into Specialized Business Training Department of Nanjing Normal School, Business Department of National Southeast University, National Central University Business School and finally National Shanghai Business School. In 1952, adjustments were made that Nanjing Normal University should focus on normal research and education, leading to the development of business interrupted. In 1961, the Nanjing Normal College Department of Politics was established. At the same time, a Marxist-Leninist economics department was set up. The construction of business discipline moved forward and ZhenKun Li became the leader of constructing the economics discipline. In 1994, School of Economic Law and Politics School of Nanjing Normal University consisting of Economics and Trade Department and Business Administration Department was established. School of Business of Nanjing Normal University was officially established in 2001.

Scientific researches and personnel training can be divided into two branches: economics and management. Our school has a first level Ph.D. training station in Applied Economics, Ph.D. programs in Industrial Economics, International Trade, Finance, Labor Economics and Human Resource Management are provided in this station. In addition, 8 master's degree programs are provided: Political Economy, Western Economics, Regional Economics, Industrial Economics, International Trade, Finance, Business Management, etc. Besides, there are 2 professional degree stations: Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Finance (MF). Undergraduate programs are divided into 7 majors: International Economics and Trade, Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Marketing and Management Science. Our School of Business has four departments: Department of International Economics and Trade, Department of Finance, Department of Business Administration and Department of Management Science. Our school also has 3 provincial scientific research institutions: Jiangsu Provincial Research Base for Innovation Economy, Research Base for Private Economy of Jiangsu Province and think tank base of science and technology of Jiangsu province.

School of Business has 73 teachers, among which 60 are full-time teachers, 17 are professors, 26 are associate professors, 8 are doctoral advisors and 36 are graduate advisors. Full-time teachers with senior titles account for 71.19% and 69.1% hold a doctor’s degree; moreover,  30.9% of them have overseas study experience. A high-quality, title, education and age reasonably structured teaching team has been founded. Our teachers are dynamic in diversified aspects of scientific research, personnel training and social services.

School of Business focuses on the frontier of business disciplines as well the balance development in disciplines and has formed a series of scientific research. Our school undertakes more than 200 projects of Natural Science Foundation of China, National Social Science Foundation, etc. There are more than 500 papers published in the domestic and foreign core academic journals and more than 100 books published in authoritative presses, which helps form a great academic impact.

School of Business forms an exemplary education mode in talent development. It obtains a number of national and provincial awards for its teaching reform achievements. Our students' innovation abilities in study and business are widely acknowledged by society and they have received more than 20 national and provincial awards. Our school cultivates a number of multi-level, inter-disciplinary talents with innovative and entrepreneurial skills in economics and management for the society, Apart from this, our alumni have made outstanding contributions to Jiangsu Province as well as the country's economic and social development.

School of Business takes full advantages of strengths in economics and management; it continues to develop new models and explore new paths to offer better social services and fully support the local economic and social development. With academic leaders as the core, our school actively carries out multi-level, multi-type, multi-mode of "produce-learn-research" cooperation and organizes economic management consulting teams to provide comprehensive training and consulting services for multinational corporations, domestic enterprises and government departments at all levels, acting as a strong intellectual support of the local economic and social development.

School of Business has always been using international concepts in establishing subjects and cultivating talents. It also focuses on high-level international communication and cooperation in different forms. Additionally, our school has established a stable international cooperative platform in talent development with a number of universities like George Mason University, Australia Macquarie University, etc. High-level international and domestic academic conferences are hold regularly, and our school has established scientific research communication and cooperation with Nobel laureate Professor Vernon Smith and other 10 foreign experts. Besides, a number of teachers are visiting professors at famous universities and have generated wide range of academic influence at home and abroad.
