Strengthen the Construction of National Science Center in the Yangtze River Delta

Yangtze River Delta is one of the most active, open and innovative regions in China, and it is also an important engine of China's economic development. In the future, how does the Yangtze River Delta reflect greater achievements in the new development pattern of service? On December 3, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui officials focused on this topic at the Yangtze River Delta Symposium held by Shanghai Municipal Government Counsellor's Office.

At present, a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial change accelerate the evolution, facing a series of challenges and opportunities, it is particularly urgent to speed up the upgrading of China's scientific and technological innovation ability. Participants put forward that the Yangtze River Delta region innovation advantages are obvious, and should be a good pioneer in the scientific and technological innovation industry.

Jiang Fuxin, Counsellor of Jiangsu Provincial Government and Dean of the Institute of Innovation and Economics of Nanjing Normal University, believed that in view of technological innovation and scientific innovation, we should classify strategies accordingly. He said that there should be three main bodies in the innovation system. In addition to enterprises and markets, the government must be the main body, especially in basic innovation. Which means in the field of basic innovation, there should be a high degree of government participation. He proposed the establishment of the "Yangtze River Delta Science Alliance", and on the basis of the existing Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center and Zhangjiang Comprehensive National Science Center, we should also build Nanjing and Hangzhou National Science Center, with four scientific centers to support the development of innovation highlands in the Yangtze River Delta.

After the meeting, Professor Jiang Fuxin, in an interview with the International Finance News, expressed that the new development pattern of our country must have a higher level of innovation and support future development with primitive innovation. And the original innovation needs our country to have more and greater progress in science. The density of scientific resources in the Yangtze River Delta is very high, which could help this region become the scientific center and innovation highland of the country in the future. He further suggested that the Yangtze River Delta should strengthen the construction of National Science Center. "On the basis of the two centers of Shanghai Zhangjiang Comprehensive National Science Center and Anhui Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center, two national science centers can be added in both Nanjing and Hangzhou, so that the Yangtze River Delta can support basic research and original innovation through these four centers, which definitely requires the state to make some major planning and adjustment in the layout." Professor Jiang Fuxin said.
