Lecture: Magnetic Nanostructured Chemical Construction and Multifunctional Control

Professor Hou Yanglong, distinguished professor of Peking University, came to our university for academic exchanges on October 21-22, 2020, at the invitation of Zhou Xiaosi, professor of the School of Chemistry and Material Science and Jiangsu Key Laboratory of New Power Batteries. The academic report entitled "Magnetic Nanostructured Chemical Construction and Multifunctional Control" was carried out in Conference Room 226, Huaxing Building, Nanjing Normal University. Professors and students from various related majors participated in this academic report. This report was chaired by Professor Zhou Xiaosi.


Professor Hou Yanglong serves as a Boya distinguished Professor of Peking University, a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), the chief scientist of the National Key Research and Development Program of Nanotechnology, and the director of the Beijing Key Laboratory of Magnetoelectric Functional Materials and Devices.


Professor Hou Yanglong mainly engaged in the controlled synthesis of multifunctional magnetic materials and new energy materials and their application in the field of nanobiomedicine and energy. He developed a general preparation method for monodisperse magnetic nanomaterials, explored the application of magnetic nanoparticles in the diagnosis and treatment of tumors and other major diseases, designed and prepared several nanostructure hybrid materials for high-performance lithium battery electrodes.


At the start of this report, Professor Hou Yanglong summarized the research progress of magnetic chemistry in electrochemical energy and biomedicine. Then he focused on the achievements of his research group in the controlled synthesis of magnetic materials in recent years and its application in medical anticancer. The application is introduced in detail. This report broadened our understanding of magnetic materials and stimulated our interest in biochemical research. After the report, the audience asked questions enthusiastically, and Professor Hou gave meticulous answers. Among them, Dr. Liao Jiaying, a postdoctoral fellow in the research group of Professor Zhou Xiaosi, proposed to realize magnetocaloric therapy by reversing the spin orbit, which was repeatedly praised by Professor Hou. Finally, the report was successfully concluded with warm applause.
