From October 18 to 20, 2024, the 20th JAC Organic Chemistry Forum, co-sponsored by the Organizing committee of JAC Organic Chemistry Forum and Jiangsu Chemical Engineering Society, co-sponsored by the College of Chemistry and Materials Science of Nanjing Normal University and the National and Local Joint Engineering Research Center of Biomedical Functional Materials, was held in Nanjing. Professor Zhang Xuyu, former Vice President of Nanjing Normal University, and Professor Tang Yawen, Dean of the School of Chemistry and Materials Science, attended and addressed the opening ceremony, which was presided over by Professor Chen Liangan of the School of Chemistry and Materials Science.

Prof. Jiang Huanfeng from South China University of Technology, Prof. Huang Zheng from Shanghai Institute of Organic Sciences, Prof. Zhao Gang from Shanghai Institute of Organic Sciences, Prof. Bi Xihe from Northeast Normal University, Prof. Han Yingfeng from Northwest University, Prof. Xu Senmiao from Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Prof. Yin Guoyin from Wuhan University, Prof. Zhao Dongbing from Nankai University, Prof. Lu Liangqiu from Central China Normal University Professor Zhu Congqing from Nanjing University and many other experts and scholars exchanged their latest research results at the meeting. During the meeting, the participants also displayed relevant scientific research achievements in the form of wall posters, and carried out heated discussions and exchanges.

This forum aims to display the latest research results in the field of organic chemistry in the Jianghuai region and even the whole country, promote academic exchanges and cooperation, and promote the construction and development of the discipline. According to statistics, the forum brought together nearly 400 academic and business representatives from 22 provinces and cities, 76 universities and research institutes across the country, presenting 62 wonderful lectures and 30 poster speeches. During the meeting, experts and scholars conducted extensive exchanges and in-depth discussions on the latest research progress and difficulties in the fields of organic synthetic chemistry, metal-organic chemistry, material chemistry, natural product chemistry and chemical biology.

Jianghuai Organic Chemistry Forum Organizing Committee on behalf of the University of Science and Technology of China/Anhui Normal University Professor Wang Guanwu made a summary speech on the convening of the conference and pointed out that the successful holding of the forum for the Jianghuai region universities and research institutions of organic chemistry researchers to build a good exchange platform, greatly promoted the innovation and development of organic chemistry in the area. Through this platform, he expects to further gather the wisdom of experts and scholars from all walks of life, carry out in-depth theoretical research and technological breakthroughs, promote scientific research results to serve economic development, and inject more impetus into the future development of organic chemistry in the Jianghuai region and China.

Since the first forum in 2004, the JAC Organic Chemistry Forum has developed into one of the most influential forums in the field of organic chemistry in East China, and has played an important role in promoting academic exchanges and cooperation in the field of organic chemistry in the JAC region and even in the whole country.
