The 2nd Jiangsu Synthetic Chemistry Summit 2025 Successfully Convenes

Nanjing, China – From October 31 to November 1, 2025, the second Jiangsu Synthetic Chemistry Summit was grandly inaugurated in Nanjing. Organized by the Jiangsu Chemical and Chemical Engineering Society and co-hosted by the School of Chemistry and Materials Science of Nanjing Normal University and the Jiangsu Collaborative Innovation Center for Biomedical Functional Materials, the event marked a significant gathering of experts and scholars in the field.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Chen Liang'an from the School of Chemistry and Materials Science. Addressing the ceremony were Professor Zhu Chengjian, Director of the Organic Chemistry Committee of the Jiangsu Chemical and Chemical Engineering Society, and Professor Tang Yawen, Dean of the School of Chemistry and Materials Science of Nanjing Normal University, who delivered welcoming remarks.

The summit featured insightful presentations by a distinguished panel of experts, who showcased their latest findings in synthetic chemistry. The list of speakers included Professor Hu Wenhao (Sun Yat-sen University), Researcher Bao Hongli (Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter, CAS), Professor Jiang Zhiyong (Henan Normal University), Professor Zhu Chen (Shanghai Jiao Tong University), Professor Han Wei (Nanjing Normal University), Professor Xu Minghua (Southern University of Science and Technology), Professor Liu Lei (Shandong University), Professor Tu Tao (Fudan University/Ningxia University), Professor Chen Gong (Nankai University), Professor Zeng Xiaoming (Sichuan University), and Professor Lu Zhan (Zhejiang University). Their presentations sparked vibrant discussions and in-depth exchanges among all attendees throughout the event.

Organized by the Jiangsu Chemical and Chemical Engineering Society and hosted in rotation by leading universities and research institutions across the province, the Jiangsu Synthetic Chemistry Summit aims to gather top scholars, experts, and industry leaders in synthetic chemistry from both China and abroad. The forum serves as a platform for exchanging cutting-edge research, exploring future trends, and supporting disciplinary advancement alongside industrial transformation. Emphasizing deep integration between fundamental research and industrial application, it is committed to driving original breakthroughs and promoting the translation of scientific achievements into practical technologies. These efforts provide essential academic support and talent development for the high-quality growth of the chemical and chemical engineering sectors in Jiangsu and nationwide.

With an attendance of approximately 200 participants from universities, research institutes, and corporate R&D divisions within Jiangsu, the forum prioritizes high-quality presentations and in-depth interaction, creating a high-level, collaborative, and open exchange environment. During the sessions, experts and scholars engaged in extensive discussions on the latest advances and key challenges across multiple frontier fields, including organic synthetic methodology, organometallic chemistry, asymmetric catalysis, total synthesis of natural products, pharmaceutical synthesis, as well as inorganic and materials chemistry.

The inaugural summit was hosted by the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Nanjing University, while the second edition was co-hosted by the School of Chemistry and Materials Science at Nanjing Normal University and the Jiangsu Collaborative Innovation Center for Biomedical Functional Materials. Having attracted active participation from academic and industrial experts, the forum has established itself as a notable annual event with growing academic influence in Jiangsu’s chemical and chemical engineering community.
