【10th Anniversary】Invited Talk of Prof. Aoying Zhou from East China Normal University

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the foundation of the School of Computer Science and Technology, Professor Aoying Zhou was invited to give a talk in our school on Mar. 4, 2019. The title of his talk is "Data-driven Computational Pedagogy -- A New Paradigm of Educational Research in The Internet Era". The talk was presided over by Prof. Genlin Ji.


This talk mainly described the new mode of pedagogy study in the current era of the Internet and Big Data. In China, it has become a national strategy to promote the deep integration of information technology and education. The new education study and practice is a worldwide issue. Since the emerging of modern science, it has experienced three paradigms of empirical, theoretical and computational scientific discoveries and made brilliant achievements. In the era of Internet of Everything (IOE), with the help of Data Power, most of the issues in education study and its practical applications would finally been solved. This requires the integration of pedagogy, computer science, artificial intelligence, Internet and other forces, which is also the significance of data-driven computational pedagogy.


The whole academic talk was wording sharp, informative, which gave great academic edification and enlightenment to teachers and students. In addition, Professor Zhou also put forward many valuable suggestions on the construction of computer science in our college.


Short Bio:

Professor Aoying Zhou is the vice president of East China Normal University, a member of the seventh state council disciplinary reviewing group, member of the Chinese computer society, distinguished professor of Cheung Kong Scholars of the Ministry of Education, recipient of the China National Funds for Distinguished Young Scientists, deputy director of the database committee, deputy editor of computer journal. His main research interests include: database, data management, data-driven applications, etc.
