On May 20, 2021, at 3:30 p.m., Professor Beiji Zou, a member of the Steering Committee of Computer Science of the Ministry of Education and a member of the School of Computer Science of Central South University, gave a talk entitled “Medical Artificial Intelligence and its Applications” at 109 Mingli Building. The talk was hosted by Professor Ji Genlin, Dean of the School of Computer and Electronic Information, and full-time teachers and graduate students of the School attended the talk.

 

Artificial intelligence is one of the hottest topics in today's society and an important research topic in the field of information technology and has a wide range of application prospects. This talk first reviews the development of AI, the latest technologies, methods and its application areas, focusing on the combination of AI and medical applications. Based on the research work of my team's faculty and students in recent years, we introduce the work of AI in ophthalmic disease screening and auxiliary diagnosis, detail the method of detecting and identifying lesions based on fundus images and its intelligent diagnosis technology and the Wise Eye Medical Cloud Platform we developed and its application, and finally talk about a few personal experiences.

 

Professor Zou's humorous language and scientific rigor, the whole presentation had a warm atmosphere and a strong academic atmosphere, which greatly broadened the scientific horizons of teachers and students, and they all benefited greatly. After the presentation, Prof. Zou had a lively academic exchange with the teachers and students present, and the presentation was successfully concluded with a warm applause.

 

 

 

Biography:

Dr. Beiji Zou: Doctor of Engineering, Professor Level II of School of Computer Science of Central South University, supervisor of doctoral students, former Dean of School of Information Science and Engineering of Central South University. From 2001 to 2003, he was a postdoctoral researcher at Tsinghua University, and has conducted collaborative research with several universities in Australia, USA, and Japan. He has been engaged in research in the fields of computer vision, digital image processing, computer-aided design and graphics, and medical big data analysis. He has also hosted more than 20 projects entrusted by enterprises. He has published more than 120 papers in authoritative journals and academic conferences at home and abroad. He won the first prize of teaching achievement in Hunan Province, the second prize of natural science and the third prize of scientific progress in Hunan Province. He is a distinguished member of the Chinese Computer Society, a member of the Teaching Steering Committee of Computer Science of the Ministry of Education, the director of the Teaching Steering Committee of Computer Science of Hunan Province, the director of the Engineering Technology Research Center of Machine Vision and Intelligent Medical Care of Hunan Province, and the director of the Expert Committee of the Computer Programming Competition for College Students of Hunan Province, etc. He is the Editorial board member of SCI journal "CHINESE JOURNAL OF ELECTRONICS", "Big Data" and "Computer Education".
