[Invited Talk] Professor Qihui Wu from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics

Professor Qihui Wu, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, gave a talk entitled " Cognitive learning: a new paradigm of radiofrequency learning in electromagnetic spectrum space " at the School of Computer and Electronic Information on Nov. 25, 2021. The academic presentation was hosted by Professor Genlin Ji, Dean of the School of Computer and Electronic Information.

 

Professor Qihui Wu, Vice President of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Distinguished Professor of Yangtze River Scholars of the Ministry of Education, selected in 'National Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talent' Project, young and middle-aged experts with outstanding national contributions, Member of the Communication Science and Technology Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Director of Key Laboratory of Electromagnetic Spectrum Spatial Cognitive Dynamic System of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Council Member and Fellow of the Chinese Institute of Electronics/China Institute of Communications, and IET Fellow. He has published more than 120 IEEE journal papers, 10 ESI papers, and won the IEEE Signal Processing Association Best Young Author Paper Award, IEEE VTC2014-Fall, IEEE WCSP2018 and IEEE WCSP2009 Best Paper Award, 1 gold medal at the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions, 2 authorized US invention patents, presided over more than 10 national major/key projects such as major instruments of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, won the National Science and Technology Progress 1 second prize, 5 first prizes of provincial and ministerial level scientific and technological progress, 2 second prizes, 7 third prizes, and applied innovative research results to Beidou satellites, lunar exploration projects and other projects.

 

The electromagnetic spectrum resource is a national strategic scarce resource. With the overlapping and coupling of the electromagnetic spectrum environment of land, sea, air, sky, and network, the utilization of various electromagnetic spectrums such as communications, radar, measurement and control, and navigation has increased exponentially, and the electromagnetic spectrum space has become a complex giant system. The electromagnetic spectrum space machine learning faces huge challenges in terms of sample size, appropriate amount, and learning convergence speed. The existing deep learning frameworks are difficult to be well applied to the electromagnetic spectrum space. Professor Wu's group has proposed a cognitive learning theory, a new paradigm for machine learning in the electromagnetic spectrum space. Professor Wu explained the cognitive learning framework, mathematical principles and theorems, and introduced practical cases of the application of cognitive learning to major engineering projects such as the electromagnetic spectrum intelligent management and control system and UAV spectrum cognition.
