Title: Data-driven computational pedagogy: exploration and thinking
Presenter: Weining Qiang from East China Normal University
Abstract: Online education is profoundly changing the education model. Due to "no interaction, non-online; non-active, non-learning", the current online education is still far from the traditional Chinese educational wisdom. The digital transformation of education has to solve the two basic contradictions of large-scale education, personalized learning, and the systematic construction of fragmented knowledge. The development of information technology represented by the Internet and cloud computing provides conditions for the collection, aggregation, and comprehensive utilization of learning behavior data, laying a foundation for the realization of smart education. How to build an online learning platform with learning behavior data as the first element, provide large-scale personalized teaching services, enriching teaching and learning methods, change teaching evaluation methods, optimize teaching processes and learning paths, and facilitate the production and sharing of high-quality educational resources, to provide support for educational management decision-making is the important issue and challenges faced by the intersection of information technology and pedagogy. Toward this problem, we are developing the Metasequoia online platform, starting with the National Computer Science Education (CS4All), exploring education-oriented innovative information technology, forming a system platform, and exploring and refining data-driven computing while providing teaching services. The report will introduce our current progress and thinking during this exploration process.
