On August 13, 2021, the 16th China Graduate Electronics Design Contest final was opened online. With the theme of "creating the boundless mind and heart," the contest attracted 5,120 teams from more than 200 universities and research institutes, and 427 teams advanced to the national final. In the East China of this contest, our school won two first prizes, a second prize, two third prizes, and two outstanding instructors. Among them, the "Blue Flame—Interference Displacement Micro-Measurement Device Based on Orbital Angular Momentum" project team won the first prize, and teacher Hua Zhao was awarded the outstanding instructor, achieving a historical breakthrough in this event.

 

As an electric design innovation and creative practice activity for graduate students, the China Postgraduate Electronic Design Contest is one of the theme events of the "China Postgraduate Innovation Practice Series Competition." This contest was initiated by Tsinghua University in 1996 and has been successfully held fifteen sessions. It is under the guidance of the Degree Management and Graduate Education Department of the Ministry of Education, the Degree and Graduate Education Development Center of the Ministry of Education, the Chinese Association for Degree and Graduate Education, and the Chinese Association for Science and Technology, and is co-sponsored by the Youth Science and Technology Center and the Chinese Institute of Electronics. The contest covers frontier disciplines in electronic information and has a wide influence in the universities and industry.

 

In the spring semester of this year, the school started the organization of school-level contests based on the "Graduate Science and Technology and Culture Month," striving to improve the level of entries. About 20 teams participated in the contest in early June. In the final stage of the competition, the school organized instructors to provide comprehensive guidance to help the team further condense the core creativity of the work.

 

At the beginning of this year, President Guoxiang Chen put forward the "excellent graduate education" goal at the graduate education conference. The school takes contests as the opportunity for graduate education, combining the supervisors' projects and students' thesis with competition works to arouse their research interest. The school actively carried out workshops of innovation practice contests to share experiences and encourage more graduate students to participate in contests. The school adheres to the educational philosophy of “promoting learning with competition, promoting construction with competition, and promoting reform with competition” and fully takes advantage of the guiding, motivating, and promoting roles of competition to improve the quality of postgraduate education.
