The unveiling ceremony of the School of Computer and Electronic Information/School of Artificial Intelligence of Nanjing Normal University was successfully held in the conference room of Fangfei Building on Xianlin Campus on October 16, 2020. Chairman of the Jiangsu Association of Artificial Intelligence, Chairman of the Jiangsu Computer Association, Professor Zhihua Zhou of Nanjing University, Secretary of the Party Committee of Nanjing Normal University Minqiang Hu, President Guoxiang Chen, and Jiusheng Li, Hongbo Shang, Jiandong Miao and other colleges and universities in the field of artificial intelligence experts and scholars attended the unveiling ceremony. And some of the heads of our school's functional departments and colleges, as well as representatives of teachers and students attended this ceremony. The unveiling ceremony was hosted by Ming Lei.
At the conference, President Guoxiang Chen expressed a warm welcome to the guests on behalf of the school and congratulated the establishment of the School of Computer and Electronic Information/Artificial Intelligence School. President Guoxiang Chen said that the establishment of the School of Computer and Electronic Information/Artificial Intelligence School is a positive response to the national development strategy and an optimization and upgrade of the school's discipline layout. After years of evolution, artificial intelligence has become a strategic technology that leads the future, a core driving force for a new round of industrial transformation, and is also a focus area of current international competition. After years of development, computer science and electronic information science in our school have formed A complete training system for undergraduates, masters and doctors, as well as disciplinary advantages. The school will fully support the construction and development of the new college, and hope that all teachers and students of the college will work together to become a new benchmark for school construction.
Dean Genlin Ji introduced the situation and development ideas of the college, saying that the college will adhere to innovation and leadership, adhere to the scientific research and development ideas of “applied research as the mainstay, and basic research as the supplement”, promote the in-depth integration of computer and electronic disciplines, and strengthen Cross-integration with "first-class disciplines", forming artificial intelligence+education, artificial intelligence+geography, artificial intelligence+language, artificial intelligence+medical and other scientific research fields, gathering high-quality resources of school-related disciplines, through the implementation of organized scientific research and innovation behavior, Strive for large projects and form distinctive discipline advantages. Genlin Ji also expressed that it will build an "artificial intelligence+X" compound talent training system, gather high-quality resources in relevant disciplines of the school, put students first, improve the diversified talent training model, and use the doctoral program as an opportunity to promote the development of the discipline.

After the unveiling ceremony, an expert consultation meeting on the development of artificial intelligence disciplines was held in Mingli Building. The meeting was hosted by Genlin Ji, Dean of the School of Computer and Electronic Information/School of Artificial Intelligence. At the meeting, experts and scholars conducted extensive and in-depth discussions on the future development of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence. At the same time, the college will, based on the opinions and suggestions of experts, learn from the experience of the discipline development of brother schools, further integrate discipline advantages, deepen the crossover of chemistry disciplines, realize new breakthroughs in talent training and discipline construction, and strive to add to the school’s "double first-class" and high-level university construction.
