Three oversea professors appointed to Chair professors in NJNU

This year, School of Computer Science and Technology has appointed three overseas Chair professors: (i) Prof. Hai Zhuge at School of Computer Science of Aston University, (ii) Prof. Ningfang Mi, head of the Computer System Research Laboratory of Northeastern University (NUCSRL), (iii) Prof. Bo Sheng, Department of Computer Science, University of Massachusetts Boston.
Prof. Dr. Hai Zhuge is the associate editor of “IEEE Intelligent Systems” and “Knowledge and Information Systems”. He has made a distinguished contribution to semantics, knowledge and data modelling. He created the Semantic Link Network model based on semantic link discovery and self-organized semantic linking rules and the Resource Space Model based on the discovery of dimensions and the theory and method for multi-dimensional categorization and management for various resources. The two models are integrated to form a semantic space model to represent the fundamental structure of cyberspace. It uses a uniform theory and method for modeling, organizing, retrieving, and managing both cyber objects and concepts so that various information services can be efficiently provided through understanding. It developed a set of high-performance semantic distributed platforms to provide a self-organized and adaptive architecture for efficiently sharing and managing various cyber objects. He published 22 papers on IEEE Transaction, ACM Transaction, etc.
Prof. Dr. Ningfang Mi is an Associate Professor in Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Northeastern University. Since Fall 2009. She received her Ph.D. from the College of William and Mary, Department of Computer Science in August 2009, under the guidance of Prof. Evgenia Smirni. She received her M.S in Computer Science from University of Texas at Dallas in 2004 and her B.S. in Computer Science from Nanjing University in 2000. She was a recipient of 2015 NSF CAREER Award, 2014 AFOSR Young Investigator Research Program (YIP) Award and 2010 IBM Faculty Award. She publishes seven papers on IEEE Transactions, and 2 papers on ACM Transactions. Her citation is more than 975 (h-index: 17, i10-index: 28). She served as the TPC member of over 35 international conferences. She served as the editor of Journal of Simulation Modeling Practice and Theory (SIMPAT).
Prof. Dr. Bo Sheng is an associate professor in Computer Science Department at University of Massachusetts Boston. He received the Ph.D. degree from College of William and Mary in 2010 (under the supervision of Prof. Li) and B.S. from Nanjing University (China) in 2000, both in Computer Science. Before joining UMass Boston in 2010. He spent 9 months at Northeastern University as a postdoctoral research associate working with Prof. Noubir. His research interests include mobile computing, big data, cloud computing, cyber security, and wireless networks. He published 9 papers on IEEE Transactions. He published over 35 proceeding papers on INFOCOM, MobiHoc, ICDCS, et al. His total citation exceeds 1900 (h-index: 23, i10-index: 28). He served as TPC member of over 60 international conferences, including INFOCOM, MobiHoc, SECON, ICC, and GLOBECOM.
