Academic Event | The first meeting of the Advisory Committee on International Development of educational disciplines convened by the College of Educational Sciences

22nd September, 2018 Professor Jiandong Miao (Vice Chancellor), Professor Jianjun Gu (Dean, School of Education and Science), Professor Naigui Lu (Beijing Normal University) Professor Allan Walker (Dean of the School of Education and Human development) Professor John Loughran (Dean of the School of Education at Monash University in Australia), Professor Qing Gu (University of Nottingham), Professor Robert Tierney (the University of British Columbia, Canada) Professor Megan Laverty (Faculty College of Columbia University) and all core members of the Group of the School of Educational Science. The meeting was chaired by Yueyan Du, Vice dean of the School of Education Science.

 

Vice Chancellor Miao awarded the Letter of Appointment to Professor Lu, Director of the Advisory Committee on Internationalization of Educational Studies. Professor Jianjun Gu awarded the Letter of Appointment to Allan Walker, John Loughran, Robert Tierney, Qing Gu and Megan Laverty  as the member of the Advisory Committee on Internationalization of Educational Studies

After that, Professor Gu introduced the history of educational studies, the current situation of the subject, and the problems in international. He proposed three topics to be discussed in this meeting:

1.      Common characteristics of top flight institutions that are ranked among the best in educational studies.

2.      Ways that the School Faculty of Education Science (the Faculty) at Nanjing Normal University can enhance its international presence and impact.

3.      Any specific measures that the School can adopt for its internationalization endeavor in the next five years.

The six members of the Advisory Committee discussed these three issues and made suggestions on the foundation of education studies, structural support, and professional development of young scholars.
