Dr. Ahmed Tlili, a post-doctoral research fellow at Smart Learning Institute of Beijing Normal University, visited the department of educational technologies and the Institute of Intelligent Contextual Education & Technology from June 13, 2019 to June 15, 2019. He has obtained his PhD degree in 2017 from the University of Sfax, Tunisia. Since then (and until now) he has been working as an Assistant professor of educational technology at the University of Kairouan, Tunisia.
During the visit, Dr. Ahmed Tlili delivered his speech titled “Application of Learning Analytics Approaches to Provide Smart Learning Environments” for faculty and students of the department of educational technologies. The lecture aimed at helping faculty and students of the department get familiar with the research topic “Learning Analytics.” Specifically, through this lecture, Dr. Tlili discussed several definitions of Learning Analytics and its different applications to provide smart learning experiences for better learning outcomes. Furthermore, Dr. Tlili highlighted several issues to consider for better adoption of Learning Analytics, as well as different case studies of applying Learning Analytics approaches in smart learning environments. The lecture was interactive through questions and answers both from Dr. Tlili and the audience. In addition, Dr. Ahmed Tlili met leaders of the Institute of Intelligent Contextual Education & Technology to discuss their current research and possibilities for future collaboration in the area of advanced learning technologies. This visit was arranged by the Institute of Intelligent Contextual Education & Technology.
