Academic Report | Director of the Graduate School of Technological and Vocational Education at Taiwan Yunlin University of Science and Technology gave a lecture on application research of e-book

Dr. Ting Ting Wu, an Associate Professor and Director in Graduate School of Technological and Vocational Education at Taiwan Yunlin University of Science and Technology gave an online lecture on application research of e-book to faculty and students of the Department of Educational Technologies of Nanjing Normal University on June 5, 2020. She presented PowerPoint slides to audience using zoom application and the topic of her lecture was “Application Research of E-book: Combining e-books with mind mapping in a reciprocal teaching strategy for a classical Chinese course.”

Dr. Ting Ting Wu explained about current research on e-books, classical Chinese texts reading, mind mapping and reciprocal teaching strategies. She also pointed out research gap of this field which she aimed to address in her study. After that, she presented her research method and design and reported the results. It was interesting to see that there was no difference in reading comprehension outcomes between students with and without intervention (i.e. e-book). However, learners with intervention were more willing to share knowledge with their peers compared with learners in the control group. As a result, learners enhanced their cognitive capacities for analysis and evaluation.

Dr. Ting Ting Wu received her Ph.D. degree from the Department of Engineering Science at Taiwan Cheng Kung University in 2011. She received the MS degree in Information and Learning Technology from University of Tainan in 2008. Her academic research in the last 5 years focuses on learning portfolio analysis, mobile and ubiquitous learning, information technology assisted instruction, and implementation and development of intelligent learning system. She has published many international journal and conference papers. One of her journal papers was selected as ISI Highly-Cited paper (2013 & 2014), and a total of fourteen conference paper won the best paper award. For now, she serves as Director for Educational Technologies Research Center of Humanities and Applied Science and Secretary-General in Association of Taiwan Engineering Education and Management. In 2014, Dr. Ting Ting Wu was awarded the Exceptional Academia-Industry Cooperation Awards by Chia Nan University of Pharmacy & Science. For now, Dr. Ting Ting Wu has research cooperation with many international institutions, e.g. from Norway, Indonesia, the United States, and Slovenija.
