Dr. Ruichi Wang in our college published the research in “Nature Communications” as the co-first author——“Nature of power electronics and integration of power conversion with communication for talkative power”

In 18th May, the internationally renowned academic journal "Nature Communications" published a latest research results online in the field of power electronics——“Nature of power electronics and integration of power conversion with communication for talkative power”, and as the core member in this research, Dr. Ruichi Wang in our college is titled as the co-first author. This paper reconsiders the essence nature of power electronics conversion from a new perspective, and reveals the communication nature of power converters. This research has found the communication nature of power electronics, and given the theoretical basis of power/data integration technology. This paper has also presented the strategy of power/data double modulation, achieving power conversion and data transmission at the same time. In this case, the output power is coded, and can “talk” with each other. This research has subverted conventional concepts and cognition of power electronics, and may open up a new area combining power electronics and communication technologies.

       This research builds a physical bridge between power electronics and information electronics by analyzing the principle of the inherent consistency of electrical energy conversion and data communication, which is of universal value, providing a new idea for the deep integration and integrated design of the two in the power system or the communication system. Peer reviewers of “Nature Communications” gave the comments that this research “gives significant contribution linking power electrical engineering and communications”, and “may influence the thinking of both communication engineers and power supply engineers”. It is reported that this is the first publication of research results in the field of power electronics conversion by “Nature Communications”.
