The curtain of the 11^th session of The NXP Cup National University Students Intelligent Car Final Race has dropped in Central South University on August 20^th. Four teams made up of faculty advisers and students all from School of Electrical and Automation Engineering, Nanjing Normal University won first awards in finals. Meanwhile, two teams won the second award in national technical proposal group. Our school ranks the first in Jiangsu Province as well as in the East China area.

With the guiding ideology of “basing upon the training, focusing on participation, encouraging the exploration, striving for excellence”, the NXP Cup National University Students Intelligent Car Race is an engineering practical activity for college students to explore and it becomes one of the technological contests supported by Ministry of Education as well as a project for quality and reformation of national education.

The team of Smart Car in Electrical and Automation Engineering Institute selected 19 members and formed 6 groups for the contest in October last year. Facing the big reformation of format and the test of new problems, all the members made the best of leisure to debug and adjust with the careful instruction from teachers. They chose the best program of the cars after constant practice, which included the aspects of physical construction, circuit design and control algorithm .In the competition of East China area On July 21^st, four teams from our school came to the stage of the national final competition. Persisting in the idea of “steadier and faster”, the students analyzed the deficiency, made further innovations, and redesigned the suitable cars for finals. On the stage of the national finals on August 17^th, with their collective intelligence and perfect strategies, they came into the final stage, and all got great achievements ultimately.

This contest brings us not only the awards and honor, but also the process which need collective cooperation, diligence and the building of self-confidence. We hope that our students keep trying, apply what learned into practice and get greater achievements on the road of practice and innovations.
