The “Central SOEs New Energy Storage Innovation Consortium – Solid Gravity Energy Storage Technology R&D” Progress Meeting Was Successfully Held at Our School
On September 21, the 2025 Q3 Work Progress Meeting of the “Central SOEs New Energy Storage Innovation Consortium – Solid Gravity Energy Storage Technology R&D” was held at our institute. The meeting was attended by Xing Cang, Chief Engineer of Huadian Corporation Huadian Science & Technology Co., Ltd.; Zhang Tao, Director of the Science and Information Department of the Thermal Energy Division; Hu Likai, Leader of the Gravity Energy Storage Task Force; as well as Zhang Hailong, Associate Professor at our institute. The meeting was chaired by Zhang Hailong.

Zhang Hailong, on behalf of the R&D team, first welcomed the experts from Huadian Science & Technology and expressed gratitude for the company’s continued support of the project. Xing Cang fully recognized the breakthroughs achieved by the consortium in tackling key technologies, as well as the research progress and collaboration outcomes of the previous phase. During the meeting, Zhang Hailong provided a detailed report on the core aspects of the vertical-frame solid-state gravity energy storage system, including static parameter modeling, power regulation strategies, and multi-field coupled dynamic simulations, and gave a live demonstration of the independently developed parameter optimization and 3D visualization simulation platform. Zhang Tao, in line with the goals of the Innovation Consortium, acknowledged the current research progress and outlined the key tasks for the fourth quarter.
The “Central SOEs New Energy Storage Innovation Consortium” is a collaborative platform established under the guidance of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC). It aims to tackle key challenges in long-duration energy storage technologies and to advance the domestic application of energy storage equipment. As the lead unit for gravity energy storage technology, Huadian Science & Technology Co., Ltd. has been collaborating with Zhang Hailong’s research team at our institute on related projects, and significant phased progress has already been achieved.
Our institute will continue to deepen industry–university–research cooperation with well-known enterprises such as Huadian Science & Technology, leveraging strengths in fundamental research and interdisciplinary integration, to enhance the core competitiveness of both the university and the enterprises.
