On May 21st, at the invitation from the National Key Laboratory of Smart Grid Protection and Operation of NARI Group, several students and teachers of our school attended the visiting event.
At 9am in the morning, Dr. Xu Jianbing, the head of the System Protection Laboratory gave a vivid report which introduced the overall situation of the national key laboratory, management and research team, test sites and facilities, and achievements.
The National Key Laboratory of Smart Grid Protection and Operational Control was established in 2015 by the Ministry of Science and Technology. It is located in the NARI Science and Technology Park. In recent years, many forward-looking researches and technologies in key areas of smart grid construction have been carried out there, such as relay protection, safety and stability, intelligent dispatching, and substation automation. More than 200 research projects have been undertaken which includes the national "973" project, the National Natural Science Foundation, and the National Science and Technology Support Program. In 2018, the lab developed multi-type power complementary real-time control system with successful operation, improved the flexibility of power grid operation and inter-provincial/-regional coordinated control. The research results brought development of control system support platform.
After the report, students and teachers visited the smart grid dispatching system and substation automation system laboratory, climate environment and mechanical vibration platform, electromagnetic compatibility laboratory and other research labs and platforms. The heads of each lab introduced the lab carefully about their product features, key projects and other related information.

The event helped our students and teachers to further understand the advanced technologies and innovations of NARI National Lab. The students benefited a lot, not only broadened their horizons, but also learned the cutting-edge technology in related fields, which has certain enlightenment for their future study and research.
