Introduction of Jiangsu Key Laboratory of 3D Printing Equipment & Manfacturing

Authorized by Department of Science and Technology of JiangSu Province, Jiangsu provincial key laboratory of 3D printing equipment and manufacturing was established in 2013, which is supported by Nanjing Normal University. The laboratory is a research and development institution specialized in the field of 3D printing technology in our province and it was approved by experts organized by Department of Science and Technology of Jiangsu Province in November 2016. The key laboratory consists of four research laboratories and two pilot test bases, with a total construction area of 7,600 square meters. It focuses on the research and development of basic theory and design of 3D printing, key technology and craft of 3D printing, molding equipment and installations of 3D printing, and design and preparation of 3D printing and molding materials.

On talent team, the laboratory has developed a 3D printing research team, including full-time and part-time researchers. Among them, 40 have senior titles and 48 have doctoral degrees. The personnel expertise covers basically all related disciplines, such as the electrical engineering, electrical and mechanical engineering, software engineering, material engineering, food engineering, and many other disciplines.

Since the establishment of the laboratory,112 papers have been published, including 55 papers from SCI(5 top SCI papers,4 ESI Highly Cited Papers,1 ESI Hot paper),18 papers from EI,6 papers from international conferences and CSCD. The lab  had published 9 monographs. It has had 61 invention patents, 25 utility model patents and 18 sofeware copyrights. It participated in the formulation of 3 national standards. It also had 2 second-class awards for science and technology in Jiangsu Province and 4 other provincial and ministerial awards. The main research and development direction of this key laboratory is multi-material 3D printing technology based on digital micro jetting technology. The goal is to solve common basic problems such as multi-material modeling method, complex model data structure, large data reconstruction technology, etc. The key laboratory focuses on researching digital micro jetting technology, molding materials and molding technology in this filed, and developing digital micro jetting color 3D printing equipment, digital micro jetting metal bonding 3D printing equipment, digital micro jetting biological 3D printing equipment, robot 3D printing equipment, etc.

Professor Yang Jiquan, the director of the laboratory, is the vice chairman of the Jiangsu 3D Printing Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance. Nanjing Normal University, Jiangsu Key Laboratory of 3D Printing Equipment & Manufacturing, and Nanjing 3D Printing Society are all the governing units of Jiangsu Three-Dimensional Printing Industry Technological Innovation Strategic Alliance. Jiangsu Key Laboratory of 3D Printing Equipment & Manufacturing has been initially established as an innovative group with international competitiveness, a research and development and application platform of 3D printing with a series of core independent intellectual property rights, and an integrative talent training base of production, learning and research running through the whole industry chain of 3D printing, which has greatly promoted 3D printing in Jiangsu Province. The talent training base has greatly improved the development level and international competitiveness of the 3D printing industry in Jiangsu Province, and actively promoted the development of the high-end equipment manufacturing industry represented by 3D printing technology in the province.
