Institute of Water Environmental Ecoremediation managed by Nanjing Normal University was approved by Nanjing Normal University in 2008. It was incorporated into the School of Environment in Dec, 2015 along with the establishment of school. The institute focused on the research of ecological processes and practice of ecological remediation in aquatic ecosystems, namely the mechanisms of aquatic ecosystem degradation especially eutrophication and algae bloom in shallow lakes, black-odorous urban rivers, ecological restoration technique and practice for polluted urban rivers, restoration of macrophyte in algae-dominated eutrophicated shallow lakes. The institute attends to build up itself a joint innovation platform for ecological restoration of degraded aquatic ecosystems in the world.
The institute currently has 27 members including 14 full and associated professors, 8 lecturers and 5 technicians and instructional staffs. Out of the academic backbone, there are 2 academic leaders of "333 project" of Jiangsu Province, 2 academic leaders of "Blue Project" of Jiangsu Province. In 2014, laboratory members presided 34 scientific research projects (national project 4), totally 13.15 million yuan of funds, published 27 research papers as first or corresponding author, including 6 SCI papers, 2 EI article, published 1 monograph, assigned 3 patents as the first inventor. Overall, the institute will further dedicated in the research and technique development comprehensively on water ecological restoration.
