Professor Liu Lin got his bachelor degree from Peking University in 1984, and doctoral degree from Ohio State University in1994. He is the distinguished professor from the 'Thousand Person Plan' of Chinese organisation department, national distinguished professor, leading talents in Guangdong province, dean of the school of Geography and Planning, SUN YAT-SEN University, deputy dean of the college of Art & Science,University of Cincinnati. He is also the former director of the department of Geography, and the co-director of the joint center of GIS and Spatial analysis. Dr. Liu is the author/co-author of nearly 70 articles, books and edited volumes. He has been awarded over 20 research grants from various funding agencies, including the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. His research areas are GIS, geographic visualization, quantitative methods, location analysis, crime mapping and analysis and geo-simulation.
