Ninth National Academic Forum of Geographic Information Science for Doctoral Students was successfully held

On December 19-20, 2020, the 2-day "Ninth National Academic Forum of Geographic Information Science for Doctoral Students " was successfully held. This forum was conducted online and was hosted by Nanjing Normal University, China Geographic Information Industry Association Education and Science Working Committee, China Geographic Information Industry Association Theory and Method Working Committee and other units. The Graduate School of Nanjing Normal University, Nanjing Normal University Geography Undertake by the Academy of Sciences. The opening ceremony of the forum and the theme report of the conference were broadcast live on the bilibili website on the morning of December 19th, with up to 15,000 participants. Professor Tian Lixin, vice president of Nanjing Normal University, and Professor Tang Guoan, chairman of the Education and Science Popularization Committee of China Geographic Information Industry Association, delivered speeches respectively. Finally, the opening of the forum and the keynote report were hosted by Professor Lv Guonian and Professor Zhang Shuliang from the School of Geography Science of Nanjing Normal University. Researcher Zhou Chenghu, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, gave a theme report on "Healthy Big Data and the Development of New Generation GIS", and Professor Wu Huayi from Wuhan University gave a theme report on "The Future and Challenges of GIS (Geographic Information System) Development".

Professor Shen Huanfeng from Wuhan University gave a theme report on "Spatio-temporal Continuous Remote Sensing Monitoring of Typical Ecological Environmental Parameters in the Yangtze River Economic Zone", and Professor Zhang Liqiang from Beijing Normal University gave a theme report on "Spatial and Temporal Big Data Analysis and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1-3)".

Professor Chen Min from Nanjing Normal University gave a report on "Geographical Modeling and Simulation System Design Considerations for the Research of Geographical Features in the New Era". Song Guanfu, President of Beijing SuperMap Software Co., Ltd. gave a report on "The Road to GIS Basic Software Technology Innovation".

In this forum, 115 doctoral students from 44 universities and research institutes across the country, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Wuhan University, Nanjing University, Fudan University, and the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, participated in 13 sub-forums. Gave an oral report. This forum simplifies the conference format and highlights academic exchanges. The online conference format has attracted a large number of students and teachers. Each sub-forum has more than 100 people, which greatly broadens the scope of academic exchanges and has the largest number of people in previous forums. The closing ceremony of the forum was held in the afternoon of December 20. Professor Yang Xin of Nanjing Normal University presided over the forum. At last, Professor Tang Guoan of Nanjing Normal University made a summary of the forum. He pointed out that the National Geographic Information Science Doctoral Forum has become an important brand activity of the education and popular science working committee and the theory and method working committee of China Geographic Information Industry Association. It is also an innovative postgraduate talent training project of the national key disciplines of cartography and geographic information system of Nanjing Normal University And stick to the important measures of basic research of geographic information science. Through the holding of this academic forum, the doctoral students participating in the forum have improved their research pattern, enhanced their innovation competitiveness, enriched the platform of subject accumulation, and become a beautiful landscape in the construction of the first-class discipline of Geography in Nanjing Normal University.
