On the morning of January 9, 2026, the “Regional Economic Restructuring Symposium in a New Context” was successfully convened at the College of Geography Sciences, Xianlin Campus of our university. The event was spearheaded by the Department of Human Geography and Urban-Rural Planning, jointly organized by the College of Geography Sciences at Nanjing Normal University, the Economic Geography Committee of the Jiangsu Geographical Society, and the Jiangsu Collaborative Innovation Center for Geographic Information Resource Development and Utilization, with co-sponsorship from Yidawei Academic Press.

The opening ceremony commenced with Professor Jin Cheng from the School of Geographical Sciences at Nanjing Normal University presiding over the proceedings, followed by an opening address delivered by Vice Dean Li Hongbo. Dean Li extended a warm welcome to all faculty and students in attendance, highlighting the academic legacy of Nanjing Normal University's School of Geography and its achievements in fields such as regional sustainable development. He emphasized that within the global context of sustainable development, this symposium holds significant value for promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and fostering the growth of young scholars. He encouraged students to spark new ideas through exchange and interaction, concluding with best wishes for the symposium's success.

Participants included faculty and students from over 30 renowned universities and research institutions in Nanjing. Among them were Professors Wang Tao, Guan Weihua, Jin Cheng, Hu Xiaohui, and Chen Yu, along with Associate Professor Wu Di from our institute; Researcher Yuan Feng and Associate Researcher Xiao Weiyue from the Nanjing Institute of Geography and Limnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Associate Professor Mao Xiyan, Researcher Qiao Yibo, and Researcher Gu Hengyu from Nanjing University; Associate Professor Li Xin from Nanjing Agricultural University; and Associate Professor Lin Bingquan from the Party School of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee. During the conference, 12 master's and doctoral students from the above institutions delivered academic presentations, followed by insightful critiques and discussions among the experts.

The conference featured in-depth discussions and exchanges on topics including: - Reconfiguring Village Café Spaces in Virtual-Physical Interaction - Digital Nomads and Rural Urbanism - Aggregation of Agricultural E-commerce Platforms - Creating Pathways for Regional Emerging Industries - Labor Spatial Practices on Digital Platforms - Urban Park Healing - Transformation of the Demographic Dividend - Evolution of Land Freight Networks - Environmental Economic Geography Following the conference, the organizers presented presentation certificates to the reporting students.

At the closing session, Professor Hu Xiaohui from the School of Geographical Sciences at Nanjing Normal University presided over the closing ceremony. Researcher Yuan Feng, Director of the Economic Geography Committee of the Jiangsu Geographical Society, delivered a concluding address, highly commending the overall quality and academic potential demonstrated in the graduate students' presentations. This academic symposium provided a high-level platform for scholarly exchange among young scholars and graduate students in economic geography in Nanjing, laying a solid foundation for future in-depth collaboration and cooperation.
