In celebration of the 20th World Social Work Day, the Department of Sociology and Social Security of Ginling College held a series of promotional activities under the theme of "Creating Hope and Harmony". This event attracted a large number of teachers and students and played a positive role in popularizing the knowledge and showcasing the charm of social work.
The theme of this year's World Social Work Day is derived from the African philosophy of "Haranbi" (meaning "togetherness"), emphasizing the need to build an inclusive and sustainable future through unity, justice, and collective responsibility in the face of conflicts, inequalities, and ecological crises.

At the event, students majoring in social work distributed elaborately designed brochures to teachers and students passing by, vividly explained the origin of World Social Work Day and the connotation of this year's theme, as well as the professional concept and core values of social work, which are "people-oriented and assisting people in need to help themselves".

To make the theme more concrete and tangible, the event set up an interactive section called "Let Mutual Assistance and Sharing Connect You and Me ". Participants connected the terms of "I come from", "I identify with", "I act", and "I expect" with yarn, linking their personal identities, value identifications, voluntary actions, and future expectations together. As more and more participants joined, a web had been gradually formed, symbolizing that each participant was willing to work together,gather strength through mutual assistance,and jointly pursue a harmonious and beautiful future.
There was also a "Wish Post-it" session at the event  for participants to write their sincere wishes for society and the world. "May the world be peaceful, without war", "May social work help more people", "May everyone be treated gently"... These wishes carryied the expectations for the development of social work and the pursuit of harmony and happiness.
In addition, this event also promoted the "Digital Social Work" micro-major offered by Ginling college. This micro-major aimed to cultivate interdisciplinary talents with both digital thinking and social work professional capabilities and expand students' interdisciplinary vision.Through promotional materials and volunteer’s explanations, teachers and students on the spot learned about the training objectives, course settings, and practical directions of micro-major.Many students showed great interest.
With interactive experiences as the carrier,this event integrated professional concepts with social care.It not only enhanced teachers and students' understanding and recognition of social work but also deeply ingrained the concept of "Creating Hope and Harmony " in their minds.

In the future, the social work team will continue to deepen teaching reforms, fulfill professional missions, innovate service forms, cultivate more outstanding talents and contribute more to the progress of our society.
