On May 30, 2025, under the guidance of their course teacher, Mr. Wang Chang, the 2022 undergraduate students majoring in sociology from the Ginling College/Sociology College/Accounting College of Nanjing Normal University visited the Planning Exhibition Hall in Nanjing Jiangbei New Area to carry out a practical teaching activity for the course "Urban Sociology".

First, the teachers and students watched a promotional video of Jiangbei New Area, systematically understanding the strategic positioning and development process of Jiangbei New Area as the first national-level new area in Jiangsu Province. In the core exhibition area, a huge overall planning sand table presented the spatial structure, industrial layout and future vision of the new area in a three-dimensional way, vividly interpreting the spatial planning concept of "a modern new main city".

Then, the teachers and students visited the Main City and Ecology Hall, Innovation and Industry Hall and Free Trade and People's Livelihood Hall.The Main City and Ecology Hall actively promotes urban construction under the development concept of "ecological priority and intensive efficiency" and highlights the five planning cases and key landmark buildings of Jiangbei New Area by combining the new measures on city development. Relying on an all-round innovation strategy and high-quality innovation resources,the Innovation and Industry Hall focuses on the leading industries of "two cities and one center", striving to build trillion-yuan industrial clusters such as "Chip City" and "Gene City".What’s more,it also vigorously implements the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries. The Free Trade and People's Livelihood Hall introduces the achievements and future plans of the new area from multiple aspects such as street reform, public services and smart life.

This practical teaching activity went beyond textbook theories, allowing students to closely experience the grand blueprint and development vitality of this national-level new area and deepening their understandings of urban planning and urban social changes.
