Yi-fang Treatre Club Rehearsing Drama

GC's Yi-fang Treatre Club is rehearsing its traditional play "Wu Yi-fang" for the memorization of her birthday.

Wu Yi-fang, born in the Qing Dynasty, studied in Ginling Women's University (GWU) as its very first batch of students. She graduated from GWU in 1919, and then started her educational career in Peiping Women's College, which later merged into Beijing Normal University.

After working for a few years, she continued her own education in the University of Michigan in biology. After she obtained her doctoral degree therein, she started her presidency of Ginling Women's University and stayed in the position until 1952, when China had a nationwide rearrangement of colleges and departments. Ginling Women's University became the campus of Nanjing Normal College (NNC) and Dr. Wu became the lifetime emeritus president of NNC and later worked as Vice-Governor of Jiangsu Province.

On the first Teachers' Day (September 10th, 1985), Dr. Wu Yi-fang talked to journalists of newspapers and TV stations. The drama just started from this scene.
