Hongai Media Lecture 240th Issue | Artificial Intelligence and Chat Machines
On December 25th, Professor Jiang Hua, Vice Dean of the Newhouse School of Public Communication at Syracuse University, visited our school and gave two special lectures to the students. The lecture was chaired by Professor Zou Ju, Vice Dean of the School of Journalism and Communication.

In the morning, Professor Jiang Hua gave a presentation on the opportunities and challenges of artificial intelligence in the field of journalism. At the beginning of the lecture, Professor Jiang Hua introduced the widespread application of artificial intelligence in the field of news writing. Professor Jiang Hua mentioned that currently in the United States, thanks to the support of big data, artificial intelligence has been widely applied in the entire process of news production, with significant effects in ten aspects such as automation, algorithms, machine learning, and deep learning. Especially in hypertext processing, data filtering to assist investigation and reporting, and large-scale article writing, it has effectively improved the efficiency and quality of news work.
Next, Professor Jiang Hua provided a detailed introduction to the use of AI technology tools in the field of public relations, mainly reflected in the interactivity of chatbots, the real-time performance of speech to text tools, and the analysis and detection of emotions. On this basis, Professor Jiang Hua analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of artificial intelligence applications and discussed the ethical use of artificial intelligence in free information flow and competition.
In the afternoon, Professor Jiang Hua shared the current research and future prospects of chatbots. Professor Jiang Hua introduced two articles he had published to everyone, explaining how chatbots affect user satisfaction, perceived privacy risks, loyalty, and other related applications. Professor Jiang Hua mentioned that due to the development of AI, the application of chatbots is also constantly expanding. Especially in China, the rapid development of chatbot applications provides a valuable academic resource for researchers engaged in artificial intelligence and other fields. She encourages her classmates to conduct research by combining different application scenarios.
At the end of the lecture, Professor Jiang Hua had in-depth discussions with the students present. Several doctoral students actively shared their current work and ideas on chatbot research, and looked forward to further in-depth discussions with the teacher.
