On June 16, the High-level Forum on Rural Communication and Social Development in Chinese Modernization was successfully held in Suiyuan Campus of Nanjing Normal University. The forum was hosted by the School of Journalism and Communication of Nanjing Normal University, and nearly 100 experts, scholars and doctoral students from all over the country gathered at the park to discuss the new forms, new models and new directions of rural communication in Chinese modernization.

The opening ceremony of the forum was held in Building 100, Suiyuan Campus, Nanjing Normal University. Ben Guodong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Nanjing Normal University, gave a welcome speech, and Zhou Wei, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Journalism and Communication of Nanjing Normal University, presided over the opening ceremony.

Subsequently, the Academic Collection of Rural Communication and Social Development was officially launched, and Yang Jian, director of the Comprehensive Book Publishing Center of Jiangsu People's Publishing House, and Zhuang Xi, executive dean of the School of Journalism and Communication of Nanjing Normal University, signed a publishing agreement as representatives of both parties and reached the publication intention.

Keynote speech, Five experts, Hu Zhengrong, Director of the Institute of Journalism and Communication of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Zhu Chunyang, Professor of the School of Journalism and Communication of Fudan University, Xia Qianfang, Professor of the School of Journalism and Communication of Nanjing University, Wang Lulu, Director of the Human Resources Department of Nanjing Normal University and Zhuang Xi, Executive Dean of the School of Journalism and Communication of Nanjing Normal University, focused on the multiple issues of rural communication and social development. With the theme of "Intelligent omnimedia communication system empowers grassroots social governance", Professor Hu explained the logical relationship between public opinion, communication and governance, and analyzed Chinese modernization from three levels: macro, meso and micro. It is proposed that the intelligent all-media communication system to empower grassroots social governance, first of all, to co-build and co-govern and share, second, to converge resources and connect all elements, third, to deepen services and enhance stickiness, and finally to strengthen communication and data construction.

Focusing on the modernization of people and the modernization of national governance system and governance capacity, Professor Zhu Chunyang believes that the centralized status of mainstream media in digital journalism is gradually disappearing, and diversification has become the social norm. He pointed out that social governance is based on social consensus, and social consensus is generated from communication and consultation, and it is necessary to establish a dialogue and communication mechanism of multiple subjects and improve consensus-based solutions to social problems.

With the theme of "universal-particularity dual epistemology and Rural Communication", Professor Xia Xianfang reveals the limitations of appropriating Western traditional epistemology and epistemology to solve the problem of rural communication in China, emphasizing that the current social sciences need to regain localization and nationalization, attach importance to the social logic and political logic of knowledge production, and be alert to the confusion between the universality of reason and the universality of experience.

With the theme of "Between 'local' and 'Universal' -- Reconstruction of Rural Ethics in the Process of Chinese Modernization", Professor Wang Lulu introduced the "field" approach to the study of rural ethics in China, explored the "local moral knowledge" and its universal possibility, as well as the stand, method and path of modern reconstruction of rural ethics in China. Based on the interpretation of the diversity of modernization styles and development paths, we should attach importance to the resource significance of "local moral knowledge" to the modern reconstruction of rural ethics.

With the theme of "Rural Community Communication from the perspective of Modernization of grass-roots governance", Professor Zhuang Xi focused on the multi-direction collaboration between rural community communication and grass-roots governance, explaining from the aspects of why, how and evaluation of synergies. It is pointed out that it is necessary to master the regional characteristics and organizational modes of rural community communication in China, build a precise and visual digital picture, scientifically construct a local evaluation system for rural community communication effectiveness, and promote intelligent and accurate governance.

On the afternoon of the 16th, the sub-forum was launched, and experts and scholars from major universities and colleges in China focused on the themes of "Research on Rural communication and Governance in Chinese modernization", "Research on Rural communication and culture in Chinese Modernization", "Research on digital rural construction and rural Revitalization in Chinese modernization" and "Research on Rural Image Communication in Chinese modernization". Conduct academic discussion and ideological confrontation.
The theme of sub-forum 1 was "Research on Rural Communication and Governance in Chinese Modernization". Zhu Hongjun, Executive editor of Journalism and Communication Research, was the moderator, and Yang Lin, former Vice Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences of Xi 'an Jiaotong University and professor of the School of Journalism and New Media, was the commentator. Professor Gao Shanbing from Nanjing Normal University reported the new model of rural governance in Jiangsu. Professor He Zhiwu from Huazhong University of Science and Technology discusses the production and change of public space in rural communities in China. Professor Yan Yan of Renmin University of China explained the dynamic process of acceptance of cremation reform in rural China; Wang Yini, associate professor of Hunan University, conducted a field survey on the digital marketing practices of small and micro retailers in rural areas of Hunan. Yin Jianyun of Yangzhou University used a three-level framework to analyze the news reports on "rural revitalization" in mainstream media; Yuan Xiji from Tianjin Normal University discussed the practice of rural culture in which ethnic groups intermingled with each other. Zhang Xue from Xi 'an Jiaotong University investigated the strategies and effects of rural reading promotion. From the perspective of media embedding, Zhou Yangyan from Beijing Institute of Printing and Technology explored the path of rural revitalization enabled by the integration of rural culture and tourism.


The theme of the second sub-forum was "Research on Rural Communication and Culture in Chinese Modernization". Liu Peng, editor-in-chief of The News Reporter, served as the moderator and Yao Jianhua, professor of Journalism School of Fudan University, served as the commentator. Mr. Shayao and Mr. Yang Wengen from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences studied the expression of rural films in the period of social transformation. Cao Gang, a teacher from Nanjing Normal University, used the actor network theory and process tracking method to study the mechanism of villagers' digital literacy improvement under the background of digital village strategy. Teng Jiaxing from Hebei Normal University deeply explored the image presentation of rural images in short videos; Wen Changying of Xiamen University took rural environmental news as the research object and summarized and refined the visibility production and definition of rural environmental news. Li Duruo, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, focuses on the communication and social development of rural relocation. Tu Haiyu from Zhejiang University of Media and Communication conducted field research on the first batch of "Future village" sign systems in Zhejiang. Du Yajie from Nanjing Forestry University investigated the external thrust and subjective initiative of the returning youth reembedded in the countryside. Xu Qiru from Jilin University of the Arts explored in depth the optimization path of image construction of new farmers empowered by college film and television education.


The third sub-forum, themed "Research on Digital Rural Construction and Rural Revitalization in Chinese Modernization", was presided over by Professor Liu Liqun of the National Institute of Cultural Development of Wuhan University, and Professor Zhang Shuhua, Deputy Dean of the School of Journalism and Communication of Zhengzhou University, served as a commentator. Chen Jiefeng and Xu Zhangcheng from Anhui Normal University analyzed how villages maintain their cultural uniqueness in the process of modernization. Ms. Wang Yilan from Zhengzhou University focuses on the role of new villagers in rural governance under the media society. Shi Jianhui, a teacher from Anqing Normal University, discussed the role of organized rural media practice in rural revitalization. Based on the theory of communication infrastructure, Zhao Qingting from Shandong University investigated the influenza vaccination behavior of rural elderly in Shanxi Province. Li Li, a teacher from Yunnan University, analyzed the factors that hinder the effectiveness of health communication activities in rural areas; Zhang Jingchun from Donghua University discusses innovative strategies for digital agricultural packaging design; Wei Ling from Nanjing Normal University reinterpreted the concept of "charm", providing a new perspective for understanding the cultural integration between rural and urban areas.


The theme of the fourth sub-forum was "Research on Rural Image Communication in Chinese Modernization". Ma Mei, dean of the School of Journalism and Communication of Anhui Normal University, served as the moderator, and Yu Shujuan, deputy editor of Nanjing Social Sciences, served as the commentator. Meng Lun, a teacher from Hohai University, explained the key characteristics of "inconsistent quality" in the process of farmers' policy feedback behavior, which formed the operation dilemma of double-track feedback; Xu Tingting from the Party School of Henan Provincial Committee of the Central Committee explored the basic mode of art township construction in Dananpo Village; Chang Lingchong, a teacher from Huzhou Normal University, put forward innovative thoughts on county-level financial media based on the representative views on the evolution of media convergence in the past decade. Leng Yuanbin from Southwest University of Science and Technology verified the significant positive impact of rural-urban integration on rural revitalization, and found that the rural revitalization effect of rural-urban integration has obvious regional heterogeneity; Yan Jiayue from the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences shared her research on farmers' interest expression in short video communication; From the perspective of media transformation, Wu Yuyuan from Northwest University analyzed how traditional rural folk culture survives under the trend of deepening media degree. Suo Yuqi of Southwest University of Political Science and Law examines the role of lead, lithography, mimeograph and woodcut techniques in different revolutionary propaganda scenarios in rural base areas of Shanxi during the Anti-Japanese War.


The in-depth research and unique insights of the participating experts and scholars in the field of rural communication revealed the broad prospects and diverse possibilities of rural communication development through interdisciplinary dialogue. This forum has promoted academic exchanges between schools, broadened academic horizons, injected new vitality into the theoretical exploration of the construction of China's rural communication independent knowledge system, and contributed new wisdom to the rural revitalization in the new era and new journey.
