To Spread Love Media Forum (No.55): Professor Zhang Weiyu Shared“the Fans Public”

On the afternoon of July 2, Zhang Weiyu, associate professor of the Department of Communication and New Media at the National University of Singapore, presented an academic lecture entitled "the Fans Public" in Room 502. The lecture was hosted by Professor Zhang Xiaofeng.
At the beginning of the lecture, Professor Zhang took the personal monograph Fans Public as the context, comprehensively explained questions such as "how fans develop networks online and offline", "how fans develop their networks through objects" from the perspective of the social network analysis, network society, actor-network theory and other network theories. She divided the fan network into three types: "person-person", "person-object-person", "person-person-object". Then,she took "Watching Movies in the Back Window", "Douban" and "Weibo" with which students are familiar as examples, provided an in-depth introduction to the fan network operation mechanism of different social platforms.    
During the lecture, Professor Zhang fully combined his learning experience in Nanjing University, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the University of Pennsylvania and his teaching experience at the National University of Singapore to explain and answer questions. A variety of communication methods, such as dialogue, provided a frontier of the theme, exciting content and rich forms of knowledge for the teachers and students who attended the lecture. It brought great benefits to the development of students' research ideas and academic vision.
