So far, he has successively published 12 individual works such as "The Art of Social News Collection and Writing", "Regulations and Ethics in New Media Communication", etc., and published in journals such as "Journalism and Communication Research" (6 articles) and "Modern Communication" (9 articles). He has published more than 150 papers and has become one of the most fruitful and influential scholars in the field of media regulations and ethics research in China. As a pioneer in the field of news communication law in mainland China, in 1999, he published the first monograph in this field "Journalism Law", and later published "News Infringement and Legal Liability", "Invisible Interview Theory", "Journal Rights" And Duty" three monographs on special topics. With the continuous development of the news communication industry, and on the basis of the book "Journalism Law", the research field and connotation have been continuously expanded and deepened, and the "Journalism Communication Law" has been published, which further improved the framework system of this subject field. "Journalism Law", "Journalism Tort and Legal Liability" and other monographs have been used by more than 40 libraries in countries and regions such as Harvard University Law School, the National Library of Berlin, National Chengchi University, Hong Kong University, etc. collect.
He has presided over 4 national scientific research projects. In 2000, he presided over the National Social Science Fund Project "Research on News Infringement and Legal Liability" and successfully concluded the project. In 2015, he presided over the key project of the National Social Science Fund "Research on the Protection of Privacy in the Big Data Era" and successfully concluded the project. In 2015, he served as the host of the sub-project of the major project of the National Social Science Foundation of China "Research on the Legal Boundary Issues of the Internet and the Right of Expression". In 2019, he started to host the key project of the National Social Science Fund "Research on the Protection of Citizens' Privacy in the Era of Artificial Intelligence". In addition, he has presided over more than 20 provincial and horizontal cooperative research projects. Won two social science outstanding achievement awards issued by the People's Government of Jiangsu Province, and the research results have a wide range of influences at home and abroad. In recent years, he has devoted himself to the research of regulations and ethical issues in new media communication, focusing on big data, artificial intelligence and the protection of citizens’ privacy rights, and published a series of research results in "Journalism and Communication Research", "Modern Communication", "News University", etc. , The legal issues in the "secondary use" of private data, the privacy protection issues in information sharing, the generation of integrated privacy in the era of large numbers, and the involuntary harm in privacy infringements, etc., have been widely concerned and praised by the academic community.
Initiated the establishment of the Media Regulations and Ethics Research Committee of the Chinese Society of Journalism History and was elected as the first president. In 2016, in collaboration with famous professors from 13 universities across the country, including Fudan University, Renmin University of China, Communication University of China, and Nanjing University, led the establishment of the Media Regulations and Ethics Research Committee of the Chinese Society of Journalism History. In November of the same year, he was elected as the first president at the inaugural meeting held in Nanjing. Re-elected as president in 2021. The branch's standing director units also include Peking University, Tsinghua University, and the Institute of Journalism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. In 2019, the branch was selected as the "Excellent Second-Level Branch" of the Chinese Journalism History Society.
In addition to his long-term commitment to academic research, his writing interests are very broad, covering many fields such as news, essays, film reviews, and popular science. Hundreds of works of various types have been published so far, and a large number of news works, film reviews, essays, etc. have been awarded more than 100 times.
