Team Introduction of Jiangsu Key Laboratory of 3D Printing Equipment and Manufacturing

At present, there are 51 fixed members, with an increasing number of staff year by year. The team as a whole is young, high-level, multi-structured and multi-professional development. The national “Thousand Talents Plan”, one person, Jiangsu Province "Six Talents Peak" innovation team, Jiangsu Province "333" project training candidates 4, Jiangsu Province "Six Talents Peak" training object 5, Nanjing Science and Technology Leading Talents Plan (321) project winners 4, provincial universities "Blue Project" outstanding young backbone teaching. There are 5 trainer and 2 highly cited scholars in China. The specific research team and main research tasks are as follows:

Research field of digital micro-drop jetting UV curing 3D printing

This field is funded by the projects such as "Basic research on direct manufacturing of heterogenous material parts based on digital droplet ejection process" (National Natural Science Foundation of China, 61273243), " Development and integration of 3D printing equipment based on digital micro-drop jetting process" (Science and Technology Support Major Project in Jiangsu Province , BE2013012-2) and " Development of 3D printing equipment based on digital micro-drop jetting", "Development of 3D printing technology for digital micro-drop jetting process" .

The developed digital micro-spraying metal powder 3D printing equipment is the only  industrial equipment to achieve high-speed, low-cost 3D printing by the combination of resin micro-spraying bonding and sintering within the nation, and has broad market prospects. The equipment combines the advantages of digital droplet injection technology, 3D printing technology and UV light curing technology and 3D printing with high-precision, high-speed and high-difficult parts can be achieved by simple post-processing such as sintering. The equipment does not require a laser, and the size range and molding speed are much larger than traditional metal sintering processes. The technology has the advantages of low cost, high speed and wide molding materials and can be widely used in metal parts processing, chemical engineering, automobile manufacturing, defense and military industries.

Research Direction of Biological 3D Printing

Biological printing technology usually uses computer aided design (CAD) software to complete 3D modeling of the tissues and organs, and transmits the generated structure information and the information of material and machining trajectory information to the molding equipment control system. This technology controls the sedimentary cells or biological material conveying speed and sedimentary position of molding equipment, so as to realize the layered accumulation of bionic biological model manufacturing.

The team undertook Key Projects of Jiangsu Provincial Science and Technology Support Plan” Biological 3D Printing Key Technology and Complete Equipment Research and Development of Artificial Hip Joint for Precision Medicine”, Natural Science Foundation of China” Study on the Restoration of Meniscus Defects by Sustained-Release CTGF/TGF β3 Using a 3D Printed Multiphase Integrated Scaffold”, Jiangsu Provincial Natural Science Foundation” Study on the Method of Stent-Free Angioplasty Based on Piezoelectric Micro-Droplet Jet” and so on.

In-depth research is conducted on the multi-material modeling, molding material preparation and modification, and molding process of biological 3d printing. The main application directions are biological engineering (tissue printing), drug screening, and rehabilitation engineering and so on.Team members: Feng Chunmei, Li Zongan, Zhu Liya, Tang Wenlai, Shi Jianping, etc.

Research on 3D printing of intelligent material

3D printing technology of intelligent composite structure is an emerging cross-disciplinary research hotspot in the fields of materials science, engineering and computer science. It combines design elements such as matrix materials, electronic components and functional components, with functional requirements to realize integrated rapid manufacturing of shape and function controllable intelligent composite structure.

Our laboratory undertook the key research and development project of Jiangsu Province, “Research and development of key technologies and equipment of 3D printing for intelligent composite structure”, “Development of 3D printing composite molding process for intelligent structures” and company cooperation project “Controllable design and manufacturing methods for 3D printing of intelligent composite structure ". A digital micro-injection/extrusion-based molding method assisted with robot arm is developed to print the shape memory polymers, fiber-reinforced resin composites, and embedded electronic intelligent composite structures. Systematic research works are conducted on the functional modeling and software system of heterogeneous intelligent structures, the liquid-solid coupling mechanism and interface strengthening method of multi-phase component materials, and the influence of digital micro-injection/extrusion process parameters on structure-function characteristics. In addition, a multi-functional system equipment with digital micro-injection device, extrusion device and robot working together is introduced to develop integrated manufacturing technology of typical heterogeneous intelligent structures.
