Professor Ming Du：Profound Changes in International Economic and Trade Relations and System Restructuring

 

On the evening of December 1, 2025 (Beijing Time), Professor Ming Du delivered the sixth lecture of Cutting-edge Issues in China’s Foreign-related Rule of Law to teachers and students of the School of Foreign-related Rule of Law at Nanjing Normal University.

 

Under the theme “Profound Changes in International Economic and Trade Relations and System Restructuring”, the lecture systematically reviewed the fundamental reforms of current international economic and trade rules and explored the logic and possible directions of future system restructuring.

 

At the opening, Professor Du pointed out that the current international economic and trade system is undergoing a profound paradigm shift, not partial adjustments. He noted that “rule disputes have gone beyond technical levels to competition over values and institutional models”, outlining the evolution from a single efficiency logic dominated by “neo-liberalism” to a complex system integrating multiple values such as national security, climate justice, and developmental sovereignty.
