The 77th session of the "Chen Bangjie Forum" was successfully held at the Multi-purpose Auditorium of Xingzhi Building on May 12th at 10:30 AM, organized by the School of Life Sciences. At the invitation of Professor Xu Kai, Professor Peter Moffett from the Université de Sherbrooke, Canada, delivered an academic lecture titled "Plant Defense Under Water: Apoplast Hydration in Plant-Microbe Interactions". The event was hosted by Professor Xu Kai and actively attended by faculty members and students across the school.

During the lecture, Professor Peter Moffett presented groundbreaking research on the critical role of water in plant immunity. He innovatively proposed distinct functions of extracellular aqueous environments during both activation and execution phases of plant antibacterial immunity, offering novel perspectives for understanding complex plant immune processes. Following the presentation, Professor Moffett engaged in dynamic discussions with participating faculty members including Lu Ling, Han Guanzhu, Li Kunlun, and Xu Kai.
