Academic report: Oocyte - granulosa cell dialogue regulates oocyte development

Dr. Youqianq Su, Professor and Principle Investigator at State Key Laboratory of Reproductive Medicine, Nanjing Medical University (NMU), invited by Professor Fuliang Du, presented a scientific seminar entitled “Oocyte-granulosa cell dialogue regulates oocyte development” at College of Life Sciences on Oct 24, 2018.

Professor Su presented the molecular mechanism of development of follicles and maturation of oocyte, and shared the latest scientific progress in his laboratory. His team at NMU showed that oocytes play an important role in directing follicular development from resting follicles, through growing follicles, finally to matured follicles regulating a synergistic maturation of granulosa cells. They found that MTOR pathway is critical in mediating an interaction between oocytes and granulosa cells. By Cre-conditional knockout of MTOR, they found that MTOR plays distinct roles in resting follicles and growing follicles, and that MTOR determines the differentiation of primordial granulosa cells. Prof. Su answered many questions with in-depth and broad scientific knowledge. The audience were impressed from his excellent seminar.
