Under the invitation from Prof. Ziqiang Zhu, Dr. Wenzhi Lan (Professor of Nanjing University) gave an seminar entitled “Proton pump and aluminum tolerance in plants” at School of Life Sciences on Nov.12, 2020. During his talk, Prof. Lan introduced proton pump and substance transport, causes of aluminum stress in plants, strategies of plant tolerance to aluminum toxicity, and their recent research on the functions of vacuolar proton pump in the aluminum tolerance in plants.

 Dr. Wenzhi Lan is currently a professor in the School of Life Sciences, Nanjing University. Professor Lan’s laboratory mainly works on the molecular mechanism of plant coordination of substance distribution and the identification of key membrane system proteins and signal transduction. He has published many research papers in decent journals such as PNAS, Plant Cell, Plant Physiology and PLoS Biology.
