The Fifth Outstanding Undergraduates Summer Camp was held from July 7, 2016 to July 10, 2016 to select outstanding undergraduates to get further education in our School and to enhance their interests in bioscience research. After screening, 68 outstanding undergraduates with recommended exam-free postgraduate qualification from universities in Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Jiangxi, Hebei, Henan, Sichuan, Hunan, Heilongjiang, Fujian, Tianjin, Jilin, Zhejiang, Shanxi, Shandong and Jiangsu. Postgraduate School of Nanjing Normal University and leaders in our School emphasized this activity and deployed actively to ensure its smooth launch. With the full cooperation of our postgraduate office and party branches of the postgraduates, various issues were implemented seriously, ensuring the success of the Summer Camp.
The Summer Camp offered students an opportunity to visit our campus and the city and explore the culture, listen to experts’ lectures, study with teachers, visit specimen museum and laboratory, and exchange experience with postgraduates. It enhanced campers’ interests in doing research and expanded their cultural and academic horizon. Besides, the considerate care from our teachers and postgraduates students impressed the campers. According to our university’s new policy guiding the selection of outstanding campers and qualified campers and our school’s self-formulated selection method, the expert group, after comprehensively assessing campers’ application materials and on-site interview performance, selected seven outstanding campers. The rest are qualified campers due to their good performance. Our school promises: an outstanding camper with his/her university’s recommended exam-free postgraduate qualification will be immediately admitted if he/she applies for our school’s recommended exam-free postgraduate; if an outstanding camper’s preliminary examination grade reaches the state line and is no less than 10 scores of the entrance examination accepting line, he/she can be admitted without taking part in entrance examination. A qualified camper with his/her university’s recommended exam-free postgraduate qualification, after applying for our school’s recommended exam-free postgraduate, will receive preferential admission if he/she passes the second-round examination; if a qualified camper’s preliminary examination grade reaches the entrance examination accepting line of our school and our university, he/she will receive preferential admission if he/she passes the entrance examination.
Our school has held Outstanding Students Summer Camp for five consecutive years, providing a good platform for the communication between the outside and our faculty and students and for students from other universities understanding our school. It plays a vital role in enrollment promotion and attracting excellent students. The Summer Camp, without doubt, can benefit our Recommending Exam-Free Postgraduate Work and improve the enrollment quality.
