Bio: 

Bin Lian (Dr. Lian B), born in January 1964 in Fengyang County, Anhui Province, is currently a Professor at the College of Marine Science and Engineering at Nanjing Normal University. He graduated from Anhui Normal University in 1985 and received his Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2000. He was once a visiting scholar at McGill University in Canada (1998 – 1999), George Washington University in United States (2009), and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Sweden (2009-2010).

 

He is a member of the 8th and 9th Council of the Chinese Society of Mineralogy, Petrology and Geochemistry (2017-2021; 2021-2025), and a member of Geological Microbiology Committee, Chinese Society for Microbiology (2017-2021; 2021-2026). He is also a member of the editorial board of the international journals such as ”Minerals” and “Frontiers in Microbiology” as well as some Chinese Journals “Acta Mineralogica Sinica” and “Bulletin of Mineralogy, Petrology and Geochemistry” etc. In 2001, he was awarded special government allowance by The State Council of Chinaand selected into the "One Hundred Talents Program" of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2005. In 2021, he won the 10th "Hongai Elite Teacher" title of Nanjing Normal University.

 

He is mainly engaged in the research of microbial mineral interaction and its environmental effects. At present, he mainly studies the molecular mechanism and environmental effects of rock microbial weathering, mineral biotransformation and ecological functions of plant rhizosphere microbial community, and microbial mineralization and its application, etc. He has presided over the project of National high Technology Research and Development Project and the National Natural Science Foundation project. He has published more than 100 papers in international academic journals as the first or corresponding author, and authorized 9 invention patents.
