According to the need of teaching and research,college of Marxism set up six Research Departments and six offices.They are the Research Department of the basic principles of Marxism, Marxism in China Research Department, Research Department of ideological and political education, Chinese Modern History Teaching and Research Department, Situation and Policy Research Department, Department of Research and Graduate Political Education Lessons.And the six offices are College Office, Party Committee Office, Student Affairs Office,Graduate Training Office, Undergraduate Teaching Office and Academic and Research Office.School of Marxism as an independent teaching and research institutions focus on ideological and political theory course and is leaded by school directly.It manages all the ideological and political theory course teachers in the school and is responsible for all undergraduate, graduate ideological and political theory teaching tasks.As the research unit and the supporting institution of Marxist theory,School of Marxism undertakes the work of Marxist theory research, discipline construction, graduate training, etc.

 

The college has strong teaching staff which is organized in reasonable structure.The existing staff are more than 47 people. There are 14 professors (two of whom are Distinguished Professors), 14 associate professors, 15 lecturers and more than 30 part-time teachers.The college has 13 doctoral tutors and 30 master’s mentors. The teachers who has a doctorate reach more than 60% of the total number of full-time teachers.It has one chief expert who joins in Central Marxism Theory Research and Construction Project, 3 members of the Ministry of Education Teaching Guidance Committee, 3 people who enjoy the special allowance of the State Council, one person who joins in the national millions of Talents Scheme, 2 people join in 333 Talents Program of Jiangsu Province, 2 people take part in A Group of Five People of Jiangsu Province and 2 people join in the Six Talents Scheme (Education) of Jiangsu Province.

 

The college has formed a disciplinary platform of Marxist theory which has complete disciplines, prominent features and obvious advantages.It has the national key discipline of the basic principles of Marxism.Marxist theory is the provincial key discipline of Jiangsu, superior discipline in the universities of Jiangsu province and the cultivation points of national key disciplines in Jiangsu province.The college has Marxism Research Institute which is the key research base of the Education Department of Jiangsu Province, the research base of the theoretical system of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the training and studying base of the Ministry of Education and Jiangsu Province for college counselors.

 

The college became one of the first accredited institutions offering doctorate of first-level discipline of Marxist theory in 2006.Now it has the right to confer doctorate of first-level discipline of Marxist theory  (six second-level disciplines) ,and it also has the mobile post-doctoral station of Marxist theory and undergraduate program of Ideological and Political Education(non-normal).The discipline of Marxist Theory of our college ranked tied for No. 6 in the national discipline evaluation which was organized by Academic Degrees Office of the State Council in 2012.Our mobile post-doctoral station of Marxist theory was awarded outstanding level in the postdoctoral assessment which was organized by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security in 2015.At present our college has about 200 postgraduates,including all kinds of masters and doctors of Marxist theory and 10 people worked in the post-doctoral station.There are many master degree candidates and doctor candidates get Excellent Paper Award in school and provincial level.

 

Ideological and Political Theory course of the college is distinctive in teaching methods.Marxism College actively carry out 05 programs, innovating the teaching style of the Ideological and Political Theory course and making full use of the online education platform in the teaching activities of the four courses for the undergraduates.These attempts receive good effects.The teaching methods of the Ideological and Political Theory course and Situation and Policy course for postgraduates have made positive progress during the process of exploration.109 practical teaching bases were set up and a more perfect practical teaching organizational mechanisms and specific measures have formed.The social practices have achieved good effects.The teachers of the college won two second prize of the provincial teaching achievement,and was selected to 2015 the teaching and research teams of national ideological and political theory course preferred support program.There are two people were selected to national outstanding young teachers of ideological and political theory courses preferred funding scheme in the colleges and universities.One project was selected to the reform project of the teaching methods of the ideological and political theory course Preferred Promotion Program and ended with excellent rating.One person was selected as the pacesetter of the influential people and another person was selected as influential people among national teachers of Ideological and Political Theory course.Two courses were selected to A Wonderful Lesson which is the key textbook of Marxism project of the Ministry of Education.Two teachers were rated as the teachers of excellent demonstration lessons of the Ministry of Education.Four courses established projects in the A Wonderful Lesson project of provincial Department of Education.Two courses were shortlisted for the provincial outstanding teaching courseware.We have obtained one university-level teaching team, one university-level course and more than 10 university-level teaching reform issues.

 

The college is undertaking two major tenders supported by National Social Science Fund, two National Social Science Fund key project, six National Social Science Fund general and youth projects.We have obtained two second prize of the Outstanding Social Achievement of the Ministry of Education and two first prize of the Outstanding Social Achievement of the Jiangsu Province.We have published many articles on the The Study of Marxism, Ideological and Theoretical Education, Marxism and Reality, the Research of Chinese Communist Party’s History and other national authoritative publications.There are two outcomes was selected to the outstanding achievements library supported by National Social Science Fund.

 

College of Marxism will strive to innovate the teaching of ideological and political theory course, creating new advantages of Marxist theory disciplines and continue to achieve new development!
