The voice of fax theory is the virtue of youth. At 3 p.m. on May 5, 2019, the 31st "Zhengde Forum" was successfully held at Xingmin Building 540. The event was honored to invite Professor Chen Dawen, Ph.D. supervisor, as the keynote speaker, and chaired by Mr. Li Jinjin, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Marxist College of Nanjing Normal University. Nearly 100 graduate students of the College attended the event and participated in interactive exchanges.

At the beginning of the forum, Professor Chen Dawen was briefly introduced by Li Jinjin, Secretary of the Party Committee. On behalf of all the teachers and students of the Marxist College, Professor Chen was warmly welcomed. The theme of this forum is "China's citizens'awareness of the rule of law and its cultivation". Professor Chen has made a systematic and in-depth analysis of Chinese citizens'awareness of the rule of law and its cultivation from four aspects: civic and civic education, the connotation of the awareness of the rule of law, the constituent elements of the awareness of the rule of law, and the significance and objectives of cultivating students' awareness of the rule of law.

Firstly, Professor Chen makes a deep analysis of citizen and civic education from the case of Fan Bingbing's tax evasion and his own experience. Professor Chen believes that civic education is based on the cultivation of free and independent personality, focusing on the awareness of public participation, rights and obligations, democracy and the rule of law. Then Professor Chen drew the connotation of rule of law consciousness from civic education. He emphasized that the consciousness of rule of law is the citizens'cognition of rule of law, the ideological concept and value orientation that they advocate and follow. The consciousness of rule of law is not only reflected in people's rational understanding of rule of law, but also in people's emotional recognition of rule of law. Secondly, Professor Chen makes a clear analysis and summary from two aspects: the constituent elements of citizen's awareness of rule of law and the significance and goal of cultivating students'awareness of rule of law. He believes that the constituent elements of citizens'consciousness of rule of law are mainly divided into three aspects, among which the consciousness of procedure and rules is the foundation, the consciousness of rights and obligations is the core, and the consciousness of equality and justice is the soul. Finally, the lecture entered the question-asking link, and the students put forward questions in combination with their own thinking. In response to the question of "how to view the relationship between the rule of law and public opinion" put forward by his classmates, Professor Chen gave a detailed answer based on his own professional theoretical knowledge and practical experience

This "Zhengde Forum" not only helps our students to broaden their horizons and examine themselves inward, so as to further understand the importance of cultivating the sense of rule of law and clarify the responsibilities and responsibilities of the ideological and political educators, but also provides a new perspective and new ideas for the further study of the innovation of Ideological and Political Theory courses, which is conducive to enhancing the discipline advantages and enhancing the competitiveness of the college.
