Jiangsu Key Laboratory for Numerical Simulation of Large Scale Complex Systems

Director: Yongzhong Song
Secretary: Ying Zhu

Introduction

The Laboratory consists of a large-scale scientific computing researching group, a complex power system prediction and control researching group, a high-performance nonlinear programming and optimization researching group, and an editorial department of Numerical Algebra, Control and Optimization. Mainly relying on mathematics and making full use of multidisciplinary advantages such as chemistry, physics and geography, the Lab focuses on the technology development plans made by the Central Government, the Ministry of Education and Jiangsu Provincial Government, and is engaged in scientific research on large-scale complex system modeling, analysis, numerical simulation, prediction and control.
The Lab has 41 staff, including 26 professors, 10 associate professors, 1 lecturer and 4 administrators. More than 93% of them have the doctoral (PhD) degrees. Among them there are 1 member of the Millions of National Talents Project, 1 member of the “Millions of National Talents Project in New Century”, 4 winners of the State Council Expert for Special Allowance, 1 winner of China National Funds for Distinguished Young Scientists, 4 distinguished professors in Jiangsu Province, and 9 members of “333 Talents Project” in Jiangsu Province. The ongoing research projects include 30 national ones with more than 15 million yuan of total research funds.
The area of the Lab is nearly 3000 m2, with 5 student computer rooms and a cluster computer room. Besides, professors and associated professors have their own offices. The Lab is equipped with 480 sets of computers and softwares wherein more than 200 sets cost over ten thousands yuan and the facilities cost 13.9 million yuan. An HPC system is provided in the cluster computer room, where the cluster consists of 108 compute nodes, 4 login management nodes, 3 I/O nodes, 2 fat nodes, 1 GPU nodes and a 198 TB disk array. All the hardware and software equipments are in the first class level in Jiangsu Province.
