Chinese pianist Zhang Yuyu currently serves as Director of Piano department at Nanjing Normal University, and the Vice-Director of High School Music Union Piano Committee of China Musicians’ Association. He studied music at Nanjing Normal University and Shanghai Conservatory of Music. He earned the Master degree at The Brussels Royal Conservatory of Music in Belgium, studied with American pianist Daniel Blumenthal, Belgium pianist Ms. Kattia, and Prof. Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden. Mr. Zhang was awarded the Master of Piano Performance and the “High Performer” degree.
He has participated in many foreign master classes and music festivals, including the Verbier International Music Festival in August 2005 in Swiss, and Menahem Pressler and Martha Argerich Master Classes. In 2009 and 2011, he won silver medals at the China National High School Professional Piano Teachers Competition. In 2013, he was awarded the Gold Medal of the 4th China National High School Professional Piano Teachers Competition. Mr. Zhang also won prizes at the 12th International Citta Dipinerolo Piano Competition in Italy and the 6th Gent International Piano Competition in Belgium.
During his years in Europe, he performed many solo recitals and chamber music concerts in various European cities, including Brussels, Gent, Antwerp, Cologne, and Rome. Zhang actively involves in the cultural and musical life in China, with performances and lectures in many parts of the country. He also performed concerto with Nanjing Philharmonic Orchestra, Nanjing University Symphony Orchestra, Nanjing Youth Symphony Orchestra and ZheJiang Normal University Chamber Music Symphony Orchestra. His performances in New York and Washington, along with Osaka, Japan gained favorable reviews.
