On the invitation of School of Physics and Technology, Professor Shuangshi Fang, from Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), made a seminal on the title “A brief introduction of particle physics experiments”, on November 13, conference room 435, Xingjian building. Teachers and graduate students from School of Physics and Technology attended this seminar.
Professor Shuangshi Fang is an experimental particle physicist, researcher of Institute of High Energy Physics, CAS, recruited by the “Outstanding Overseas Talents Program” of CAS in 2010, a laurate of “National Natural Science Award, second class” in 2013, and a laurate of “Outstanding Ph.D. supervisor” of CAS. Prof. Fang has worked in BESII, ZEUS, BESIII experiments a long time, mainly focus on light hadron physics. He was a convenor of light hadron spectroscopy group, and physics coordinator of BESIII and now works on BESIII experiment and is a convenor of the light hadron spectroscopy group.
At this seminar, Prof. Fang Briefly reviewed the history of particle physics experiments, and also landmark discoveries in particle physics studies. Prof. Fang also introduced the history of BES (BEijing Spectroscopy) experiment including BESII and BESIII, outstanding discoveries of BES, BESII, and BESIII, and opportunities in the future.
