On the afternoon of October 29, 2020, Prof. Li Hong who comes from School of Psychology, Shenzhen University, gave a lecture entitled “Recognizing Children”. The lecture was hosted by Prof. Deng Zhu (Dean of our School of Psychology, Nanjing Normal University). Prof. Yu Jiayuan, Prof. Chen Qingrong, Prof. Wang Fengyan, Prof. Zhong Yuan, Prof. Liu Guoxiong, and other faculty and students from our School of Psychology attended the lecture.
Prof. Li Hong started the lecture with the famous formula in Psychological Science: S-O-R, which regards the curriculum as a carefully designed S that acts on children’s brains (O) and then produces the corresponding behavior (R). According to this formula, children would grow up healthily through exposure to good curriculums. However, in the new era under the background of Internet, he suggested that the curriculum should also develop and improve together with this new background. Professor Li pointed out that the modern school education should not ignore the “digital literacy”. Also, in this Internet age, children’s education should follow the requirements of the “China Student Development Core Literacy”, and focus both on a kind of humanism detail and scientific spirit.
In the last Question & Answer session, Prof. Li had positive discussions with the faculty and students. The lecture arose the great interests of faculty and students and was ended in applause.
