Chen Li, the Vice Mayor of Taizhou, and Yue Song, the Member of the Party Standing Committee of the University and the Vice President of the University, attended the event.

In his speech, Yue Song emphasized that this collaboration represents a proactive exploration by universities, government agencies, and medical institutions to deepen cooperation based on practical needs. Through joint research initiatives, talent development, and the establishment of a social psychological service system, it aims to advance high-level psychiatric specialties, promote interdisciplinary integration, and foster synergy among medical care, education, and research.

In his speech, Chen Li stated that this collaboration represents a strategic choice of joining forces and complementing strengths. It is a proactive initiative focused on addressing needs and serving the public, and it marks a new starting point for future-oriented leadership and exemplary demonstration. It is certain to yield abundant results and establish a model benchmark for “university-local cooperation achieving mutual success and serving the health of the people.”

In the presence of attending guests, Nanjing Normal University signed cooperation agreements with the Taizhou Health Commission and Taizhou Fifth People's Hospital. The parties will deepen collaboration on core tasks including the development of high-level psychiatric specialty hospitals, advancement of biomedical innovation systems, and establishment of social psychological service frameworks. The official unveiling of the “Nanjing Normal University-Taizhou Fifth People's Hospital Joint Research Institute for Brain Science and Mental Health Intelligent Support” marks the substantive advancement of collaborative innovation between the university and local government in the fields of brain science and mental health.

Prof. Chen Qingrong, the Chair of the Academic Affairs Office at Nanjing Normal University, presided over the academic symposium. Distinguished scholars including Prof. Chen Hui, Chair of the Department of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences at Zhejiang University, and Prof. Zhang Ning, Chief Physician at Nanjing Brain Hospital and Director of the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Research Institute at Nanjing Medical University, delivered invited presentations on cutting-edge topics such as “Fundamental Theories and Clinical Applications of Human Information Selection” and “Long-Term Treatment Goals for Depression.” These contributions provided high-level academic support for the advancement of mental health services in Taizhou City.

This university-local collaboration and academic symposium has established a platform for exchange and cooperation in the fields of brain science and mental health. It will fully leverage our university's multidisciplinary strengths and Taizhou's local practical advantages to advance healthcare services toward a holistic “biological-psychological-social” health model. This initiative will fortify the mental health foundation for the well-being of citizens in the “Prosperous and Harmonious State of Taizhou.”
