Sun Daogong

I. Personal Profile

Sun Da-gong, male, born in May 1977 in Rizhao, Shandong Province. Member of the Communist Party of China, Doctor of Letters, Professor, Doctoral Supervisor. He currently serves as Dean of the School of International Culture and Education, Nanjing Normal University.He obtained his Master’s degree in Chinese Philology from the School of Liberal Arts, Yantai Normal University in June 2005, and his Doctor of Letters degree in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics from Nanjing Normal University in June 2008. He joined Nanjing Normal University as a faculty member in August 2008. He was a visiting scholar at the University of Cambridge in June 2015. Main research interests include theoretical linguistics, semantic knowledge bases, history of linguistics, and international Chinese language education.Undergraduate Courses Taught: Semantics, Modern Chinese, Introduction to Linguistics, History of Linguistics, Academic Writing for Linguistic Research, Research Methodology in Language Studies, Guided Reading of Western Linguistic Works, Chinese Syntactics, Sociolinguistics, Cultural Linguistics, Traditional Chinese Philology, Chinese Dialectology, etc.Postgraduate Courses Taught: Theoretical Linguistics, Introduction to Semantic-Syntactic Grammar, Modern Syntactic Studies, Frontiers of Syntax-Semantics, etc. He has published 2 monographs, compiled 3 textbooks and contributed to 4 others. He has authored more than 60 academic papers in CSSCI-indexed linguistics journals and other periodicals.
