Wenqian Hu Professor

Bio: 

I. Personal Introduction

Hu Wenqian, male, born in July 1984, from Nanjing. He holds a Master’s degree (2009) and a Doctorate (2013) in Literature from Nanjing University. During his doctoral studies, he received funding from the China Scholarship Council to participate in a joint doctoral program at Brown University in the United States. He is currently a professor at the College of Liberal Arts, Nanjing Normal University, primarily engaged in research on modern Chinese cinema and contemporary Chinese drama.

II. Main Research Achievements

He has published over twenty papers in CSSCI journals and one monograph. His research outcomes have been downloaded thousands of times and cited multiple times, with five papers fully reprinted in the Renmin University of China’s reprint materials “Film Art” and “Stage Art.” Representative achievements are as follows:

© Research Projects

  1. In 2016, he received the Youth Fund Project from the Ministry of Education’s Humanities and Social Sciences program titled “Early Chinese Cinema and Foreign Influences” (completed).
  2. In 2020, he obtained a sub-project of the National Social Science Fund’s major project in the arts titled “Research on the Chinese Drama Acting School” (20ZD21), specifically “The Status and Contribution of the Chinese Drama Acting School in the World Theater.”
  3. In 2023, he received a general project from the National Social Science Fund titled “Research on the Reception and Influence of Western Cinema in China (1905-1949)” (23BZW141).

 

III. Awards
As a key participant in the Ministry of Education’s key research base major project “The Comprehensive Anthology of Twentieth Century Chinese Drama Theory,” the research outcomes of this project were awarded the First Prize of the Eighth National Excellent Achievements in Humanities and Social Sciences in Higher Education (2020) and the Second Prize of the Fifteenth Jiangsu Province Philosophy and Social Sciences Excellent Achievement Award (2018).
