On the afternoon of June 6, 2026, at the invitation of the School of History and Archaeology, Nanjing Normal University, Professor Lu Haiming, former General Manager of Nanjing Publishing Media Group, former President of Nanjing Publishing House, Adjunct Professor of Nanjing University, and President of the Nanjing Studies Research Association, delivered a lecture titled “A Different Nanjing: Taking Nanjing Studies as an Example” in Lecture Hall 108, Building 200, Suiyuan Campus. This lecture was the 173rd in the Archaeology Series Lectures of Nanjing Normal University. The lecture was hosted by Professor Wang Zhigao and was attended by nearly 100 teachers, students, and members of the public from both inside and outside the university.。
The lecture was divided into two parts. The first part focused on what Nanjing Studies is, why it should be established, and the significance of conducting research on Nanjing Studies. The second part, from the perspective of Nanjing Studies, presented a unique view of Nanjing’s distinctive geographical features, numerous historical names, rich cultural connotations, its important role in carrying forward Chinese civilization, its century-long vicissitudes at the forefront of historical change, its spiritual landmark connecting Chinese people at home and abroad, and the great transformation from the “Literary Pivot” to the “World Capital of Literature”, offering the audience a different understanding of Nanjing.
