On the evening of September 21, 2022, invited by the Department of History of the School of Social Development, Nanjing Normal University, Wei Zhijiang, vice president of the Chinese Korean History Research Association, director of the Korean Institute, professor and doctoral supervisor of the School of International Relations of Sun Yat-Sen University, carried out an offline special lecture on "Sanbiechao’s Anti-Mongolia War and the Three Kingdom’s Relations of Mongolia- Goryeo -Japan from the Perspective of East Asia" for teachers and students of our school in the room 502 in Xuezheng Building. The lecture was presided by Associate Professor Wang Shuai from the Department of History of the School of Social Development. Nearly 200 teachers and students from the Department of History listened to the lecture and participated in the discussion. The atmosphere was warm.

 

Professor Wei Zhijiang first emphasized the important position of the Sanbiechao’s Anti-Mongolia War in the study of Mongolian Yuan history, Goryeo history and Japanese history. It transcended the category of national history of China, Japan and Korea and had an important impact on the entire structure of East Asia. Therefore, it needs to be examined from the perspective of overall regional history. The status quo of the different positions of Japanese and Korean scholars around this issue also urgently requires Chinese scholars to speak out and build their own academic discourse power.

 

Afterwards, Professor Wei Zhijiang focused on three major issues: "the nature of the Sanbiechao and the struggle against Mongolia", "the Sanbiechao’s the Anti-Mongolia War and the relationship between Mongolia- Goryeo -Japan ", and "the Sanbiechao’s the Anti-Mongolia War and the changes on the structure of East Asia ". From the basic concept of "Sanbieshao" to the influence of "Sanbieshao" on the structure of international relations in East Asia in the 13th century, this lecture explains in simple terms that "Sanbieshao", as the main force of the Goryeo War against Mongolia, successively took place on Ganghwa Island, Jindo and Jeju Island. "Sanbieshao" not only controlled the mastery of the seas of the Mongolia- Goryeo coalition forces southward to Japan, thereof delayed Mongolia's conquest of Japan, but also tried to form an anti-Mongolian alliance with Japan in the name of Goryeo orthodox regime. All of these have had an important impact on the relations between the three countries of Mongolia- Goryeo -Japan and then reshaped the new international structure in East Asia.

 

In the end, Associate Professor Wang Shuai summarized the academic lecture and expressed his heartfelt thanks to Professor Wei Zhijiang for his wonderful and lively lectures. The lecture was successfully concluded with the warm applause of teachers and students.
